Here are just 3 sports movies that I found in the pile that I think you really should watch!
Going through an old pile of films the other day I was aching to watch a good sports movie.
If you’re a fan of sports, and are a fan of movies, sports movies will naturally be very appealing to you.
There’s just something about kicking back after a tough day, putting your feet up, and throwing on a sports movie that really gives you a sense of escapism that other genres don’t necessarily provide.
With the craziness of the lockdown, I’ve been dabbling in a bit of sport betting myself through numerous sites.
I’d recommend www.findbettingsites.co.uk for you to find the best site / latest deals for you.
Many sites are currently offering even more than normal to entice people to their sites so make sure to spend some time and research the best site for you.
My personal favorite is LottoGo I’ve been going crazy with them since all of this craziness began. They have some wonderful offers on and every Friday even have a fiver Friday which gives you a lottery ticket, scratchcards, and slot machine spins!
I stay well clear of Bet365 as they’re owned by Stoke City owner Peter Coates and I can’t justify giving them any money even though with all the money they have already they still can’t afford a decent football team.
I think I’m cursed when it comes to betting as every single time I bet on my local team Port Vale they always achieve the exact opposite of what I place a bet on.
Score more than 3 goals, the match ends goalless.
Vale to win, they end up drawing.
Two yellow cards in a game, no one even so much as jumps in for a tackle.
That’s my luck in a nutshell.
Anyways, enough about my betting habits!
With lockdown and the slow return of sport to the big screen there has been a sudden increase in the number of people searching for, and streaming, sports movies as of late.
Over the years, there have been some truly classic sports movies released, but what are the top 3? Well, I can’t say for certain, but here’s a look at our top 3 sports movies of the past few decades.
The Longest Yard

Definitely a film that you’ll look at on paper and question me for.
Afterall it is an Adam Sandler movie.
But it’s a rare Adam Sandler movie that is genuinely watchable.
Films such as Uncut Gems and even Murder Mystery on Netflix are Sandler films worth watching but dial the years back a few and you’ll see The Longest Yard.
The Longest Yard is a reboot of the 1974 classic starring the late, great, Burt Reynolds.
The 2005 version gathered some impressive reviews and was just considered some good old fashioned fun.
Starring Adam Sandler, and featuring Burt Reynolds, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg, Chris Rock, and many more, it tells the story of a group of convicts in a US prison, tasked with playing a game of American Football against the guards, many of which are corrupt.
Despite not being Oscar-worthy, this feel-good movie is still a great popcorn flick for a cold, wet, blustery evening.
Million Dollar Baby

If the Longest Yard was a popcorn flick, Million Dollar Baby is a multi-award-winning dramatic powerhouse that many consider one of the best movies ever made.
Directed by and starring the amazing Clint Eastwood, and starring Hilary Swank, along with Morgan Freeman.
It tells the story of a female boxer looking to prove to the world how good she is.
Imagine ‘Rocky’ but starring a female amateur boxer with some amazing performances from truly talented actors, this underdog story is one of the best movies ever made.
The Wrestler

When it comes to sports betting, there has been a surprising increase in the number of people now betting on pro wrestling.
Many experts consider this partly due to the popularity of The Wrestler. In arguably the performance of his career, Micky Rourke plays Randy The Ram Robinson, an aging and broken down pro wrestler struggling to accept the fact that his in-ring career is drawing to a close.
A celebrity in the 80s, the beaten up old veteran is now past his prime, yet clings on for dear life to his career, wrestling in bingo halls and high schools for independent promotions at weekends.
The film is touching, moving, and won critical acclaim and numerous awards, including BAFTAS and Golden Globes.
This is the movie that relaunched Mickey Rourke’s career and reminded the world just how talented of an actor he really is.
