Kevin Hart The Decision Review

Pop those headphones on as we take a 5-hour journey of life and mental wellbeing with Kevin Hart The Decision, an audiobook now available to purchase today!

The Decision Kevin Hart Review

Following up from the New York Times best-selling memoir I Can’t Make This Up, Kevin is back again to get you mentally fit during this lockdown period.

Kevin shares the same tools and rules he’s developed to elevate his own life in the hope that it inspires you to do the same.

Mixed with Kevin’s raw and authentic delivery you’ll certainly get enough humour to keep you entertained.

This 5-hour audiobook is certainly a book that should be listened to in chapters (like a book) and this very review will be broken up as such.

Evolving as does the very audiobook that Kevin has created.

So please keep coming back to this page to check-up on the recent updates as and when they have been listened to.

The Story begins…

Kevin always strikes me as a guy who says it like it is and I’ve always admired the honesty that comes across in every one of his stand-up shows.

His honesty and openness bubbled to the surface in his most recent project, the Netflix series Don’t F**k This Up.

I hit that download button, searching for some isolation motivation, popped on my headphones and it began.

Keep checking back for more parts added to this review!

Please note the overall Star Rating of this audiobook may change as each chapter is reviewed.

Part 1 – The F**K Yes Moment

After ripping on Dwayne Johnson and a few of his own friends for the opening few minutes of the audiobook Kevin introduces us to the concept behind the audiobook.

How Do I Keep Going?

A question that is asked throughout.

How do you mentally keep going through the twists and turns that life throws at you? The good and the bad, the ups and the downs.

Learning from those mistakes to help you push forward to the place in your life where you deserve to be.

It’s in this opening chapter where Kevin’s work rate and dedication comes to the fold. The ‘do more’ attitude, if people are doing things, you do more. If people are achieving things, you aim for more.

But before you aim for more you need to have the mental attitude to push you past the norm and achieve the best you.

Stepping into the unknown and past a comfort zone will pay its rewards.

Take the path of more resistance. Never take the easy route.

The main lesson I took from this first introductory chapter was to not let anyone’s else mood affect you.

The first chapter flies by with Kevin’s hilarious and positive upbeat delivery laying the foundations for the ‘Mental Bootcamp’ that awaits.

Part 2 – Know Before You Go

Kevin addresses the things to leave at home before his programme begins. Over 60 minutes in and the ‘programme’ hasn’t begun yet but that doesn’t mean the advice that Kevin is discussing in the meantime is irrelevant.

Each ‘gem’ and ‘nugget’ (in Kevin’s own words) never comes across preachy, this isn’t new knowledge, anything but.

It is helpful advice all in one place that applies to every single person from any walk of life.

In this chapter, Kevin goes over jealousy, perfectionism, Comparison, unhealthy fear, fear of failure, resistance, self-doubt, anger, blame and judgement of others.

Each individual topic being addressed with clear concise information of how it affects you and others and most importantly how they hinder rather than helping your own success.

Part 3 – Orientation

After discussing the obstacles that can affect your success in the previous chapter Kevin equips us with 15 points to help you overcome all the obstacles of the previous chapter.

These ‘weapons’ range from non-reactivity (not reacting or being affected by someone elses negativity) to ‘Cowboying Up’ where you own your own mistakes, take responsability for your own actions.

A very breezy chapter that delivers solid knowledge and know how.

This audiobook is nearly six hours long so more than one-listen is advised but this a chapter you can come back to over and over again as so far its the most informative.

These are the tools needed to overcome all of Part 2. If you know the steps of part 2 now you just need to know the implementations needed to overcome them.

So far it’s common sense, but it’s common sense all in one place injected with Kevin’s own life experiences. It’s nice to have a frame of reference to someone elses life as it allows you to compare certain situations to your own.

Moving on.

Part 4- Mental Fitness

Part 4 goes over how to prepare your mind to focus on your goals.

Kevin uses his own experience of exercise to drive home his point and picks out 7 daily routines to get into the habit of and see what works for you.

After those 7 daily routines for your own mental focus the second half of this chapter delves into how to use those routines in practical situations.

This chapter is the stop talking and get to stepping chapter delivered in bitesize easily digestible pieces.

As I’m listening to more chapters I was expecting more repetition of the same initial points but the book seems to grow.

Each individual area is inspired by the original principals but is new content with new steps to implement all building upon the initial foundations.

Four hours has absolutely flown past!

Part 5 – The Front Line

All of the previous chapters of advice come to the fold as we approach the front line.

Applying all of the knowledge into real world situations, in front of real people. Projecting all of the internal positivity that you’ve learned outwards.

It’s time to get out there in the real world and apply yourself. Ignoring other peoples opinions, owning up to failure and rising through setbacks.

This is a chapter that will need much revisiting as time and time again you’ll fail one of these ‘nuggets’ of information. But if you want to learn, to change and to adapt you’ll come back to this chapter over and over again until it sinks in and you can’t put a foot wrong.

Our Rating

Summary

Kevin Hart The Decision takes us on a journey of self-discovery as Kevin reveals ways that he has coped throughout the years, to overcome obstacles and to become the success that he is today.
