Because purple people always ask really great questions. They bring their family, friends, and communities together, and they speak up for what’s right.
They are kind and hardworking, and they love to laugh (especially at Grandpa’s funny noises)! A purple person is an everyday superhero!
Written by Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart the book revolves around a girl named Penny Purple.
Penny Purple instantly guides us through a 40 page lesson on how to be a ‘Purple Person’.
Purple People are when red and blue worth together. To be a purple person you must:
- Ask great questions
- Laugh a lot
- Use your voice
- Work hard
- Be yourself
With visually vibrant images from illustrator Daniel Wiseman this book talks to children about family on their level.
The book also discusses mixing with others in the playground working and playing together.
It’s a cheerful book with a message that may need to be more clearly explained to a four-year-old.
The metaphor is clear to an adult but a bit more explaining may be needed for a child to truly understand the social aspects of it in the real world.
Young readers will enjoy the wonderful images and the upbeat way in which the words jump off the page in a bubbly and friendly manner.
The book has a very strong message that is very relevant especially in current circumstances.
We could certainly use more purple people in the world we currently live in.

Summary
A call of unity, strength and togetherness.
This book is breezy, vibrant and with a strong direct message.
A message that may sail over children’s heads but a message that needs to be said (and learned) from a very young age.
