Today Universal Orlando Florida released a video for their latest coaster addition VelociCoaster along with a press release. Here’s all you need to know!

- Ride Manufacturer – Intamin
- Launches – 2
- Inversions – 4
- Height – 155 feet
Based at Islands of Adventure the VelociCoaster will feature two launches with one hitting 70 mph in 2.4 seconds.
Other thrilling elements of the coaster will include a 360-degree barrels roll over the park’s lagoon, a zero-G inverted stall and an 80 degree drop (Universal’s steepest on any coaster).

Spanning more than 4700 feet of track and reaching dizzying heights of 155 feet the coaster will sweep and soar through the jungle-like terrain theming.
Guests will twist above land, barrel roll just inches above water, speed through near-misses and launches within the paddock, and more, with just a lap restraint holding them in place.
The coaster will feature 12 seconds of airtime and will be designed by Intamin.
Intamin are the same company who designed the last addition to Universal Orlando Florida with Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.

Based around the Jurassic World films (hopefully not Fallen Kingdom) the coaster will feature three of its cast members including Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing and BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu. H
The press release did hint that this would be an exciting new addition rather than a continuation of a certain films storylines.
Confirming that the ride will contain its own storyline and not be specific to any one given Jurassic World movie.
Currently the ride is undergoing pull-through tests and the marketing video landed today giving us a taster of what the coaster is all about.

With key bits of information about the ride highlighted within the video we also get to see a virtual render of what the coaster will look like when completed with theming.
For a usually family-friendly themed theme park to get such an adult orientated coaster of this magnitude. This is big news indeed.
A movie themed coaster is rare in itself but a movie themed coaster that genuinely looks equal parts terrifying and equal parts awesome is a golden nugget for coaster enthusiasts.
You only have to take a quick look at the teaser released today to see the mouthwatering detail that guests are going to witness
The initial launch tunnel looks like you’re going to fly straight out of a dinosaur containment unit and with the raptors escaping from their pens that would be the perfect launch motivator.
A nice simple chase scenario would see you launching out of the pen and the ride begins as you escape through the wilderness of the jungle habitat that Universal will create.
The coaster will be unleashed upon the world in Summer 2021.
More details are on their way in the months ahead as the park prepares its marketing for the 2021 season.
I’m waiting with baited breathe to see how the theming looks as if there’s one thing that Universal can do better than 99% of other theme parks across the world and that’s theming!
