Back and ready to inject some much needed humour into our Sunday’s here’s our Top Gear Season 30 episode 1 review.

Freddie, Chris and Paddy head to the Lake District for an emotional reunion with their own dads’ old cars. Elsewhere, Chris heads out on the track to test Lamborghini’s most powerful car ever, the hybrid Sian.
Back again with Season 30 of Top Gear and it feels like an age since we were reviewing Season 29 although we did forget the review of the last episode at Alton Towers!
I definitely need to get around to that at some point.
Our episode kicks off as the gang are reunited and are presented with their dads old cars as they reminisce about when they were younger sitting in dads car and the memories that were shared in those cars.
I managed a whole paragraph of the segment review before discussing Freddie’s hair in the audience segment, lockdown hasn’t been kind to the lad.
I can’t say much with the mop on my head right now but that’s something else Fred!
This segment stayed away from the challenges, the racing, the tests and road trip specifics that go into each challenge.
Instead the producers told the lads to just keep driving and see what memories strike them along their journey and we get some great trips down memory lane as they enjoy three classic motors.
Before this episode began we were given a highlights reel of what we are to expect from this season and this first episode sees us eased into this relaxing little road trip before the inevitable mayhem ensues.
Season 29 was arguably the strongest Top Gear season i’ve seen for a long, long time and it’s going to be incredibly hard to compare to two with the previous season setting the bar so high but as is the case with any episode that Chris, Paddy and Freddie feature in, i’m always hooked.
The chemistry is firmly solidified and the group dynamic is endearing and engrossing in equal measure.
Rather than a full-throttle approach we get a really nice heartfelt ending to a rather relaxing and lovely little segment that’s been beautifully edited, lovingly crafted and expertly produced.
As that segment comes to a close we crank the amp to 11 as Chris Harris gets to grips with the Lamborghini Sian as this absolutely bonkers creation keeps Chris on his toes.
The fastest Lamborghini ever created and an absolutely stunning creation the growls and looks moments away from entering light speed.
Equipped with a super capacitor and a V12 this Lamborghini sounds like something from Back to the Future as there is absolutely no battery contained within the car at all.
It creates the electricity, stores it and then redistributes it through intense power making the Lamborghini Sian price tag around the £1M mark.
A car that isn’t looking to be an electric hybrid of the future, it’s comfortable using the electricity but it’s a V12 at heart and whilst using the electric tech it doesn’t rely on it and still manages to put the fear of god straight into Harris’ eyes.
With a dose of injected excitement in the shape of a Lamborghini wildebeest, our introductory episode of Top Gear Season 30 was more subtle than I was expecting.
A soft little introduction to the mayhem that is likely to come.
