Nick Clement brings us his Annette Amazon Prime review as the film is now currently streaming on the platform.

Henry is a stand-up comedian with a fierce sense of humor who falls in love with Ann, a world-renowned opera singer.
Under the spotlight, they form a passionate and glamorous couple.
With the birth of their first child — a mysterious little girl with an exceptional destiny — their lives are turned upside down.
This was endlessly fascinating filmmaker Leos Carax farting on the audience, and then having a good laugh about it.
Adam Driver is of course awesome and fully committed as usual, here playing a total scumbag character, and the film is beautifully designed on a visual and aural level (big-time SPARKS POWER – catchy tunes for sure).
It’s a bold and risk-taking endeavour that doesn’t care in the slightest what you “think” about it when all is said and done.
The wooden baby was creepy and deranged and the formally audacious manner in which the narrative is sung or sung-spoke was clever. And of course, always Marion Cotillard POWER. The highlight of the film was the young performer, Devyn McDowell, whose level of talent warranted more screen time – what a sensational voice and beguiling on-camera presence.
Ultimately, the film didn’t grab me in the way that Carax’s previous cinematic head-trip, Holy Motors, did on an overall level, but there’s lots to admire even if you don’t fall fully in love.
