Grimoire in the Attic Escape Room Centre

We go in search of an ancient book of spells as we bring you our Escape Room Centre review.

Located near the Blackpool Tower lies the Escape Room Centre and their wonderful Grimoire in the Attic escape room situated in the attic of the building itself.

The story of the room is as follows:

An ancient book of spells, The Grimoire, has been stolen. You’ve traced the thieves back to this long-forgotten mansion.

Their plan is to use the book to invoke evil spirits to rise again. Time is short; the ceremony begins tonight, at the stroke of midnight.

It’s just before 11 pm which leaves just one hour to find the Grimoire and escape! You’ve searched everywhere and found nothing, there’s only one place left to look, the ATTIC…

With its black painted walls and eerie atmosphere, you are greeted with various pieces of furniture, padlocks, number and letter locks and a lamp as your source of light throughout your experience.

Myself and my girlfriend attempted the room which was originally designed for 3 players.

As we were naturally a player short Escape Room Centre gave us an extra 5 minutes (thank you kindly) but it was only after reading the website upon on exit that I discovered the room is for experienced players!

Experienced we were not but some solid teamwork along with a little hint here and there and we had escaped!

The puzzles within Grimoire in the Attic were ones that I had never encountered before.

Without giving too much away, a human circuit puzzle was very clever indeed and the atmosphere of the attic was rather wonderful.

Unique puzzles and discoveries mixed with a haunting chill of the attic made this room very enjoyable indeed.

Hints can be requested and you can see how much time you have left via a countdown screen in the room.

Theming was very basic in the room for the most part with wonderful little drawings, symbols and codes dotted here and there.

It was an attic, no one expects insane theming inside an attic, this isn’t MTV Cribs.

A very enjoyable experience and Jacob our games master was very passionate about his job and the work that has gone into the rooms they are creating.

Upon completion of the room, we were given a beautiful metal token to celebrate its completion.

The token was very high quality and is a great prize to give to those who complete the rooms.

If only I could have taken the Grimoire home, the prop was absolutely wonderful!

If there’s only one negative of this entire experience (and other Escape Rooms for that matter) then please, please, please USE FLASH on your mobile phone cameras when posting social media photos.

We look like little fuzzy bears!
