LEGO kindly sent me a Jaws LEGO set to review as this lovely little set is set to be stocked on shelves this August ready to be snapped up by fans of this Spielberg classic.

1497 pieces make up the brand new LEGO Ideas set as the infamous 1975 movie comes to life piece by piece before your very eyes as you construct this set.
Admittedly I’m not a big LEGO aficionado but even I felt the magic of seeing this set come together piece by piece and enjoyed the build as a whole.
Having a display base showcasing a famous scene is such a clever touch and for those who want to display Bruce (the shark) separately he is detachable from the water base and has its very own stand should you wish to display him on his own.

LEGO minifigures include Police Chief Martin Brody, marine biologist Matt Hooper and sailor Sam Quint who can all be positioned around the boat as you please other than the very strangely designed seat where minifigures can only stand and not sit on this particular piece.
If I had one negative thing about the entire set I would say the mast strings are very flimsy and easily come out of place as they’re not entirely secured too tightly so if you’re moving the boat around or repositioning it on the base just be careful with your masts.
What’s so great about this particular set is that it was created by a fan and that man’s name is Johnny Campbell who had the following to say about the set that he had designed:

Speaking about how he approached the design for the set, fan designer Johnny Campbell, reveals:
JAWS is my favourite movie of all-time, so I really wanted to recreate it in LEGO bricks. LEGO building has always been a part of my life in some shape or form but in order to get all of the finer details, I actually freeze-framed JAWS as I watched it so that I could catch a glimpse of the finer details taking notes as I went along.
It is just mind-blowing that my design is now an official LEGO set. I can’t wait to stand in a LEGO shop looking at the shelves and seeing a set that I have been involved with and watching someone buying it. It’s every LEGO fan’s dream!
Wobbly mast aside the Jaws ICONS set is visually stunning and iconic, a beautiful build that was as stress-free as any LEGO set I’ve constructed in the past for a review but the pay-off was so much better for me.

As a movie fan, the appreciation I have for the attention to detail was great to witness. Piece by piece putting random assortments of LEGO together and then a few page turns later physically holding a LEGO Bruce the shark in my hand gave me a real sense of accomplishment with the build.
Releasing in August this set is an absolute must-have and I want to thank LEGO for sending this over to me to check out, it’s been a fun build!
