Every year at Halloween Horror Nights there’s one thing that’s more annoying than the conga line walkthrough of the mazes and that’s the queues, hour long queues (minimum) rising to two and even three hours in some cases can certainly put a dampener on your night but there is one particular upgrade which can help with that, a Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass.
This particular pass (a separate purchase to your entry ticket) allows you to skip the queues for each maze once only and allows you to also skip any ride queues that are open on that particular evening.
It’s a useful tool if you’re only visiting for one night or want to make the most of your Halloween Horror Nights experience without being stuck in queues for hours on end.
With only one day to enjoy HHN we would have only done 3 or 4 mazes maximum had we not used our express pass but after taking the leap and paying more for the pass we were able to do every single maze within the event and had hours spare to enjoy the park, the rides and the atmosphere without being bored and disappointed stuck in a crazily long line.
The HHN Express Pass is different from the usual park express pass that you can use in the day to skip rides, it’s a seperate purchase entirely but I cannot stress it enough, it’s totally worth it!
Halloween Horror Nights is packed with haunted houses, and trying to experience them all without express access is a challenge. With the pass, you’ll move through the event more efficiently, making it possible to hit every house in one evening.
There was absolutely no way we could have done all the mazes in one night if we had visited without the pass, Five Nights at Freddy’s was stuck at a 200 minute queue all night, Terrifier was stuck at 100+ minutes all night and instantly that’s 5 hours of your event taken up already out of a total of 8 hours (6pm-2am opening times).
Below you’ll find a list of queue wait times along with how long we actually waited with our express pass and you can clearly see the difference. The only discrepancy here was Fallout which closed just before the queue reopened so we got a walk-on queue for Fallout without needing to use our express pass but had the option to cash in our express pass should it have gotten busier later that evening.
The queue for Fallout eventually got up to 55 mins for the evening so an average wait time compared to other mazes that evening with similar times would have been around 3-9 minutes.
That’s certainly another cool trick to use where some mazes during the evening drop to smaller queues (Bounty Hunters dropped to 15 minutes during our visit at one point) so you can jump in a normal queue and then skip the queue should any maze get longer in queue time.
If you’re visit on a busy night or visiting on a single night and want to get the most out of the even then this is perfect for you if indeed you can afford it because it’s not cheap.
That’s the one downside of the express pass, it’s pricey!
But if you hate queues, don’t want to ruin your night in a queue and have the cash spare (Klarna was invented for a reason) then I highly recommend taking the leap!
Get your pass early for your attendance date so they don’t sell out, keep you ticket handy in the app as you’ll need to scan it at every maze entry and then plan to use it for the longest queues first and keep an eye on the queue times so you can potentially get into mazes multiple times as you bounce between short queues on the night and using your express pass to skip any longer ones.
For many guests, the Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass is the difference between a hectic night and an unforgettable one. If you’re visiting during peak season, only have one evening, or simply want to maximize your time, it’s a smart investment. While the price is steep, the ability to see all the haunted houses and still have time to enjoy the extras often makes it well worth the cost.
