Mundo Pixar Experience London Review: Step into the Movies!

Mundo Pixar Experience

The Mundo Pixar Experience London has officially opened today, and we were kindly invited down last night for the press preview to check it all out in exchange for this very review. Despite receiving free tickets, this review will be our honest opinion regarding this brand-new attraction in the capital.

Consisting of a 3,500m² space, The Mundo Pixar Experience is a large-scale immersive exhibition that brings some of Pixar’s most beloved films to life through detailed, walk-through sets.

UP Pixar London

If you’re a fan of Disney theme parks and Disney movies, then this is certainly an attraction for you, as the level of detail contained within each of these walkthrough sets is top-tier, Disney Imagineering-level.

Walking into the Monsters Inc. sets was like being transported into the world of Mike and Sully, and it also felt like a sneak peek at the upcoming Monsters Inc. roller coaster coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, especially in terms of the theming department.

COCO Set

From experiencing the Day of the Dead festival in Coco to stepping into Andy’s bedroom in Toy Story, you are walking around fully replicated, to-scale sets from each movie.

Being shrunk down to the size of a toy as Andy’s bedroom towers around you is quite an experience. Every inch of this attraction is a photo op — an Instagrammer and TikToker’s dream.

Inside Out Set

The immersive craftsmanship reverted me to my inner child as I skipped around Andy’s Room before visiting the garage, home to Mater and Lightning McQueen. There are 14 themed rooms within the attraction, but I feel as though I wanted more — I was being greedy, and my jaw was on the floor the entire time.

The Mundo Pixar Experience London is certainly targeted at families, but everyone of all ages can enjoy this one, especially those who have grown up with these Pixar classics.

Andy's Bedroom Pixar Event

There were a few curveballs in terms of some rooms within the experience, with Luca (a film that sadly missed out on box office revenue due to the pandemic) and Elemental (a film that initially became Pixar’s biggest box office flop before word of mouth shot it to over $500m worldwide) favoured over iconic classics such as The Incredibles and WALL·E. However, there is a nice broad range across the board outside of those two titles, which I felt were the weaker inclusions.

How Long Will the Attraction Take?

Toy Story 2 Set

We spent a solid 90 minutes within the attraction, but that was due to filming and photography. I’d say a solid 60 minutes would be a fair assessment of how long you’d likely spend in here.

The layout of the attraction flows nicely, and crowd control on a busy press night was handled rather well. It’s a self-guided walkthrough rather than a show or a ride, and there is a gift shop at the end for you to browse at your own leisure, with absolutely no one there to rush you out — which is always nice.

There is a broad range of merchandise on offer, and some items in stock are exclusive to the event.

Mundo Pixar London Shop

So if you want a little memento of your stay that’s exclusive to the experience and not just a Disney plush you can get in a Disney shop, then feel free to have a nosey round.

One thing I couldn’t find, however, was a pin badge or little collectible (other than a Pixar Ball) to remind you of your day.

There is a little VIP package you can purchase with your ticket (£49), which includes a VIP lanyard, notebook and pencil in a nice little box, along with a photo package.

The Negatives

UP Pixar Event London

Whilst this experience is unlike anything I’ve seen in London before in over 10 years of attending pop-up attractions in the capital, there are a few negatives — and the first of those is pricing.

With adult tickets at £34 and £22 per child (age two and under go free), it’s a little on the steep side. Yes, you’re paying for quality unlike anything seen before, but in that same regard, if you’re visiting on a busy day, you’ll be shuffling around children and families to get the photos you want without people in your way.

Press night was busy, and we were able to get photos, but only because we entered the attraction early. As the event got busier, I noticed quite a few videos and photos being interrupted by others. So on a normal day with the public attending, I feel as though this could become quite a nuisance.

Finding Nemo Mundo Pixar

For a family of four, you’re pushing close to £100 to attend the event, so it’s certainly on the expensive side — and that’s minus travel, food and merchandise costs.

It’s certainly a ‘treat’ attraction for the family that’s bordering on theme park prices. It’s premium, and that should be taken into consideration before purchasing.

With that said, many dates have already sold out, and the calendar on the website is currently running until June. I’d personally recommend visiting a little later in the year, when the attraction has had time to bed in and crowd levels become more manageable, so you can make the most of your surroundings and capture the moments without anyone else getting in the way of your shots.

Mike and Sully Mundo Pixar

There is nothing more annoying than seeing ‘don’t climb on the props’ and then watching kids scale them like Everest. So for my own personal tolerance, visiting during a time when the kids are in school would be perfect (yes, adults can totally enjoy this too).

Overall

Ratatouille Set

If you’re a big fan of Pixar and want to be catapulted straight into the heart of the movies, then you can do no wrong by visiting the Mundo Pixar Experience in London.

It’s a memorable experience for all the family, and I can’t quite compare this event to anything else I’ve seen in the UK before.

After visiting Disney attractions over the pond, this is comparable to some of the best ride queue lines in the world.

Complete immersion of the highest order — and for that little extra cost, you’re certainly paying for that premium product.

Whether it’s worth the value to you or not is completely personal preference.
