Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi may just be my favourite indoor theme park in the entire world as it hosts a whole range of IP themed attractions from DC to The Flintstones, Scooby Doo and in the next few years Harry Potter as part of a multi-million pound expansion.
The park are also in the process of replacing their Superman 360 degree theatre ‘ride’ (I use that term loosely) where guests would stand on a platform and watch a movie unfold around them.
It was, terrible!
A beautifully themed queue line led guests into the most underwhelming attraction within the entire indoor theme park and news of it being scrapped is music to my ears.
Losing an attraction is usually bad news for theme parks but not here because a Superman roller coaster (or at the very least another DC themed character coaster) looks to be on its way to replace it utilising some of the themed queue line that was part of the previous ride.
The ride would be the theme parks third indoor roller coaster (alongside Fast and Furry-ous, a suspended family coaster and Tom and Jerry Swiss Cheese Spin, a family spinning coaster) and with more rumours swirling that the Harry Potter land will also receive its own roller coaster the future is looking exciting for the Abu Dhabi park.
Unfortunately with the situation in the Middle East currently the proposed IAAPA event that was going to take place this month was sadly cancelled. This event would have given us a much clearer picture of what’s to come and perhaps even our first glimpse at some concept art for the new coaster and the Harry Potter land.
Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
There are much more important things going on in the world currently that this particular piece of news is on hold currently but we hope that in the months to come we can dive into the plans for this very exciting project for Miral in Abu Dhabi.
Goodbye Superman 360 theatre, you will not be missed!
