The guys over at CASETiFY kindly sent over a phone case for me to check out so I can deliver my honest review on this brand new range of The Mandalorian™ and Grogu phone accessories.
So in an article that we wrote last week there was a whole range of The Mandalorian™ and Grogu tech accessories on offer to folks to pick up to celebrate the release of the new movie and when I asked which product I would like to try I had no hesitation in asking for an iPhone 17 Pro phone case.
Now CASETify have so many customisation options for their phone cases, you can have a bounce case option which is extra impact protection for drops and falls in addition to their specific impact range series.
Each case can have extra protections added (for additional charges) but for a £66 Mandalorian phone case all of these additions should really come as standard as opposed to paid add-ons and charging £14 for a tiny little piece of plastic to flick out and keep your phone upright is insanity.
Now whilst the price does come as a bit of a shock at first sight it does have a few justifications such as free shipping worldwide and the fact that the product itself is actually very good quality.
I found the case to be incredibly sturdy to the point where getting my phone into the case and out of it again was a challenge, in a good way. It was very secure in there and the quality of the phone case was above and beyond the usual ones I purchase every time I get a new iPhone.
The buttons feel premium and the mirrored effect on the Star Wars graphics is a nice touch, it certainly doesn’t feel like any corners have been skipped in the build quality of this particular item but is it worth three times what I pay for a phone case usually?
Debatable.
The reason I say this is because there is one issue that plagues this particular case but it’s an issue that is very user specific as opposed to a wider issue and that’s grip. The sides of this case are buttery smooth and it became a regularly juggling act every single time I pulled it out of my pocket.
I must have had this particular case on for 10 minutes and it had already slipped out of my hands twice and dropped onto my carpet.
Within seconds I had already impact tested my phone twice (it survived) but I’d be genuinely terrified to drop this on a hard floor especially on the rather exposed camera area of the case at the back.
The camera lenses themselves in addition to the flash and the sensor part of the phone on these CASETify cases are wide open to the elements and whilst placing your phone on a table would be protected by the branded lip around the edge if it were to fall at an angle I’d be very worried about damage.
Of course CASETify must know that this is a high impact area or flaw in their design as they’re charing a whopping £17 for three small lens protectors to cover the cameras which is completely unnecessary when design and aesthetic is being chosen over protection.
Would I recommend this CASETiFY case for its build quality, overall premium look and functionality? Yes
Would I recommend this CASETiFY case for its overall protection? Debatable and with it being a Star Wars case I’d be hoping and praying the force doesn’t hit too strongly on this one!
