Long gone are the days where you’d go into seeing a movie and sit down in a chair that would instantly give anyone over the age of 20 back trouble when leaving the cinema.
For many years now comfort has been a high priority amongst all of the biggest UK cinema chains with the independent cinemas even adopting quirky and unique cinema watching experiences from sofas to actual beds and from reclining chairs to privacy pods.
Only recently Parkway Cinema in Cleethorpes introduced a privacy pod that looks like it had been plucked straight from business class onboard an aircraft with space, comfort and privacy being an upmost priority.

Now running a movie site I think it’s fair to say that my bumcheeks have experienced all that cinema seat comfort has to offer with a with a whole range of cinemas tried and testing but which one to me is the UK’s comfiest cinema seat? That’s what I’m here to discuss.
The big three of Cineworld, Odeon and Vue have all brought out a variety of seating arrangements and experiences with the latter introducing a Vue Ultra Lux seat which features extra wide seating, armrest, food table and a built in wine-cooler to keep your beverages cool throughout the film not to mention back recliner and leg recliner.
After seeing it up close and personal a month ago when it released I was very impressed. If you’re going to see a movie, that’s how it should be done even if the price for those seats seems a little steep for what is essentially just a little more wiggle room and a cooling space but that’s just my personal opinion.

On the flip side of the major three cinema chains we have Everyman Cinema with their variety of soft furnishing seating which is very nice and swanky with other small independent chains adopting that same homely feel we all know and love when watching a movie.
The Light cinemas adopt a one-size fits all approach with their seating with a gentle natural recline and some of their seats even have built in chargers to charge your devices whilst you’re watching a film which is a solid touch if albeit encourages phone screens to light up like a Christmas tree during a screening which is a small afterthought of that design choice.
Scouring the country for the ultimate cinema seat wasn’t an easy task but boy was it a comfortable one and I think I’ve finally found my winner. Introducing what is in my opinion the UK’s comfiest cinema seat.
The Cineworld recliner!

When you strip back the bells and whistles of a wine-cooler, a private pod and all the rest of it you need convenience, affordability and comfort taken into consideration and Cineworld’s luxury recliner does that in spades.
The seat is built with recycled materials and is taller and wider than the industry standard of seats and depending on the cinema you visit is the standard seat for the standard price without paying over the odds for a little extra bumcheek room.
I went to check out Super Mario Galaxy in this seat and it was my first experience of a seat that Cineworld label ‘the best in the world’ which is quite the stretch in my opinion as I’m sure there are better out there somewhere but in the UK, I can’t really argue with them.
You feel free, comfortable and the recline is staggeringly relaxing whilst still giving you a solid view of the screen.
The chair has been built to elevate your back and legs into an ‘S-curve’ which is said to support the spine’s natural shape, reduce pressure points and improve circulation. I don’t know about all that but I certainly felt the comfiest I’ve ever been in a film to the point where even a disjointed plot-hole ridden Super Mario movie became more of an enjoyable experience.
Would love to see if you agree with me on this but as far as cinema seats go here in the United Kingdom, this is going to take some beating!
