Addictively Entertaining: The Dirt Review

The Dirt Review

The Dirt, a movie that makes Bohemian Rhapsody its bitch as we explore the depraved world of the band Mötley Crüe and their rise to ultimate stardom. Smashing up hotels, drink, drugs and hookers, the rock and roll lifestyle is on full scale display.

The opening scene of the film tells you exactly what you’re in store for and what an eye-opening introduction it is! Based on the bestselling book The Dirt is perhaps my favourite movie of the entire year already!

Whilst the movie doesn’t paint these rockstars in a good light it’s so batshit crazy you can’t actually quite believe that most of this happened in real life. Even worse, the movie has no doubt been toned down from real events that took place and that is absolutely insane to me.

The Dirt Review

This film is addictively entertaining and doesn’t hold up for one second. Director Jeff Tremaine also directed Jackass, he’s no stranger to people doing crazy sh*t on the big screen. He was the perfect choice to helm this project.

With a stellar cast such as this, The Dirt runs wild in explicit ecstasy.

The Dirt Review

Machine Gun Kelly who plays Tommy Lee and Douglas Booth who plays a very convincing Nikki Sixx were standout performers. Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars and Daniel Webber as Vince Neil put in convincing performances.

However, Machine Gun Kelly and Douglas Booth certainly stole the show for me. Their chemistry on-screen went beyond just acting. It all felt so real and we the audience were all along for the ride.

The Dirt Review

The movie is as shocking as it is laugh-out-loud funny in places. What these dudes have been through (through their own doing of course) is insane. The fact they’re all still alive to this day is crazy. You can’t help but love each and every single one of these crazy bastards!

The Dirt is available to view on Netflix now.

Summary

It’s everything you could ever want and more. A film that gets a leg up from some Wolf of Wall Street inspiration to hit true batshit crazy levels!

Well worth a watch, rewind, then watch it all over again!
