In partnership with Tongal, 20th Century Fox is releasing fan-made short films leading up to Alien Day (April 26th).

As a hard-working miner of a planet mining colony, Lorraine longs to make a better life for her daughter and grandchildren. When her shift uncovers the death of a fellow miner under mysterious circumstances, Lorraine is forced to choose between escape or defying management orders and facing her fears to fight for the safety of her family.

Such a great sense of scale crammed into 10 minutes of footage. Alien: Ore looks and feels as thou it has been taken directly out of blockbuster feature film. It has such atmosphere and the camera-work is nothing short of incredible.

Ore immediately throws us into the action as our miners prepare to begin their descent. Some quirky banter between Lorraine (Mikela Jay) and Martin (played by upcoming Indian actor Dalj Brar) puts us at a state of ease. Completely unaware of the horrors that await.

When our group are inside the mine the tension is palpable. I almost felt claustrophobic just watching what was unfolding on screen. The slow creepy build-up created an uneasy atmosphere that even Alien: Covenant couldn’t replicate.

Once our Xenomorphic friend arrives, all hell breaks loose. I’m unsure of the budget but what female directors Kailey and Sam Spear have accomplished here is very impressive indeed.
