Charmingly Hilarious. Sandler At His Best: Murder Mystery Review

Murder Mystery Netflix Poster

After the electric duo that is Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston sizzled with hilarious chemistry in Just Go With It they’re back again in Netflix’s Murder Mystery.

Murder Mystery Netflix Still

Sandler and Aniston star as a married couple in a relationship without the romance. Sandler plays Nick, a cop who tells everyone (including his wife) that’s he’s a detective. Aniston plays Audrey a hairdresser who longs for more romance with her quite distant husband. After promising her a honeymoon to Europe for 15 years they finally go and end up meeting a rather rich British gent (Luke Evans) who invites them on a luxurious yacht party.

A party hosted by a billionaire (Terence Stamp) who winds up dead. What follows is a murder mystery that lands Nick and Audrey as prime suspects.

Quite reminiscent of Game Night, Murder Mystery takes a more comedic route with Sandler on form with his infamous goofy one-liners. With Audrey being a huge fan of murder mystery novels she revels in the fact that she’s caught up in this real-life case. This gives her a rush of excitement and adventure that has been sorely missing from their marriage.

From suspects to detectives the clock swings back and forth in their favour with belly-busting results. The film is also aided with a strong supporting cast that makes this movie fly by with smiles all round.

What stood out for me in Just Go With It was the amazing chemistry that Aniston and Sandler shared. They feel like a believable married couple, nothing feels forced and everything flows so comfortably and well-done. The scenic shots from Monaco to Lake Como are just cinematically and aesthetically beautiful. Sandler is at his very best with Aniston providing that leg-up to extend his comedic reach to heights we haven’t seen for a while.

Overall

Murder Mystery starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston is a very satisfying and hilarious movie. A film where we see Sandler at his comedic best. If only Aniston was with him by his side in the future Netflix feature instalments!

Summary

As part of Sandlers eight-movie deal with Netfilm this tale is a charmingly hilarious little number. With enough laughs to keep the rather simple story flowing and with the star power injected into the feature, there certainly isn’t a dull moment!
