Our third and final episode is here yet sadly dragging the premise into modern times just doesn’t quite hit the ground running. It instead runs into a brick wall.
Our story is now set in the modern-day. Dracula has been resting for 123 years to which he awakens to a familiar face.
We also for the first time meet Lucy Westenra, a girl who’s beautiful and popular yet has an emptiness inside her. A longing for something else, something darker.
Dracula is adjusting to modern times. Strange sights and sounds surround him but that doesn’t stop his killing spree.
With the legacy of Jonathan Harker coming back to haunt Dracula a scientist, a young doctor and a team attempt to stop Dracula in his tracks.
Dracula Episode 3 Review
Sadly, dragging this episode into the modern era ruins the gothic horror mythos and intrigue that made the first two episodes great. Resurrecting a classic in modern times is something that just never works. Here we have a prime example of this. It feels as thou we should give Dracula a leather coat and shades and have him fight against Blade.
Everything feels disjointed and out of place. After two incredible opening episodes, this one has sadly shot itself in the foot.
Thankfully we have the incredible first two episodes to bring balance to this god awful episode. Dracula even sends a text message with a Dracula emoji for god sake.
A figure who for the last 2 episodes has carefully chosen his victims, a man of fine taste. A man who is now swiping right and left through millennials on Tinder for a quick ‘meal’. Really?
An incoherent mess somewhat saved by a very creepy dead child. A child that will give me nightmares without a shadow of a doubt tonight!
Sadly episode 3 joins the likes of Dexter and How I Met Your Mother for epic last episode fails.
