Syfy has ordered the Chucky television show as a series! Based on the killer doll from the Child’s Play franchise creator Don Mancini is confirmed to be directing the first episode!
Deadline reported the news that Chucky is coming back with a vengeance. The series will focus on the past of serial killer Charles Lee Ray.
“In the new Chucky television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”
Don Mancini had this to say about the series:
“The show will be a fresh take on the franchise. Allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now,”
Mancini is working with producer David Krishner and TV producer Nick Antosca to create the series. Mancini will serve as writer on the series and show runner in addition to directing the first episode.
A release date has yet to be revealed for the Chucky TV Series but Chucky’s back baby! Whilst we loved the remake it’s nice to see Don behind the wheel once again with this series.
