Bombshells and Dollies is a feature documentary taking place in the world of the contemporary pinup girl.
The documentary covers the Miss Viva Pinup Contest, the largest pinup contest in the world hosted in sunny Las Vegas.
Usually a documentary like this wouldn’t be my cup of tea but I throughly enjoyed the upbeat vibe and constant positivity throughout.
This documentary hones in on female empowerment and how these wonderful girls have overcome confidence barriers, physical barriers and more to hold their heads high and go out there with a smile.
It means so much to these girls to even attend a contest like this let alone be some of the finalists.
It all just feels like one big family where everyone comes together and celebrates all things pinup.
Back in the 1940’s it was a classier time. Pinup was mainly focused on as being a motivation for soldiers in the forces.
A distraction from the harsh realities of war. An almost fairytale like escape when back then you didn’t need to bare all to gain someones attention. Sheer beauty and style alone did the trick.
It’s a shame that over the years this image has changed but it’s also so great to see old fashioned ‘classier’ ways still being celebrated to this day.
Lost in a world of pinup, fashion and Vegas glamour Bombshells and Dollies provides wonderful escapism.
At the same time it also makes me want to visit Vegas rather badly. An almost fantasy like city where dreams are made, created and lived.
Overall
A very classy documentary indeed as we follow some of the nicest, sweetest girls you’re ever likely to see on camera.
Well worth a watch for the strong messages this documentary conveys over its duration.
