A Netflix debut legal/romantic thriller that sinks its hooks into you and wriggles you around for its duration. We take a look at A Fall From Grace.

Disheartened since her ex-husband’s affair, Grace Waters feels restored by a new romance. But when secrets erode her short-lived joy, Grace’s vulnerable side turns violent.
Certainly, a movie that should be enjoyed in cinemas rather than the comfort of your own home if only to see the look on other people’s faces when that twist drops. Tyler Perry’s romantic drama/thriller does feel rushed at time, the acting in parts is a little ropey but you know what? I actually really enjoyed it!
A Fall From Grace contains a complexity to it that has you astounded at the fact that it was shot in 5 days.
Convoluted in places but not to the degree that critics have described. I never usually pay attention to anything critics say it’s always surface-level criticism as part of a paid desk job as they skim through films at a rapid pace.

Our film revolves around Grace Waters (Crystal Fox) who after being abandoned by her husband finds herself a younger lover.
The two get married and all seems well until Shannon (Mehcad Brooks) shows his true colors. Grace can’t handle this change in her partners behaviour, she drives herself crazy and soon finds herself in a murder trail where we as an audience don’t know what has transpired.
The defence lawyer assigned to Grace has never worked on a case before and the evidence is stacking up against her. Our story begins.

Crystal Fox and Mehcad Brooks in A Fall From Grace
Told through a series of flashbacks between Grace and Jasmine (Bresha Webb) in an interview room we are painted our backstory. A good portion of the first hour of this movie is shot in this format.
At no point does it ever feel boring and lethargic thou. You are taken through a journey of falling in love, planning a future to a darker sinister turn where Shannon’s mood changes.
We see Grace’s struggle from heaven to hell and how her whole demeanor changes.
You suffer what she suffers and when he takes her money and her house the anger rises and at this point in time we start debating with ourselves the limits of Grace’s character.

Bresha Webb in A Fall From Grace
Bresha Webb and Crystal Fox steal the show in this one. After seeing Bresha Webb in Marlon it was such a stark contrast to see her in this role.
She absolutely blew me away with an incredible performance. Her character completely out of her depth. Thrust into this whirlwind story that has her questioning her own morals and professionalism.
The deterioration of Grace’s persona is gripping to watch. Crystal Fox isn’t an actress I was familiar with before seeing this movie. I should be kicking myself for that.
She is absolutely tremendous in every scene she’s in and bouncing off Bresha Webb in various scenes is palpable to watch. The pacing is admittedly slow but the performances more than carry you through.

Without spoiling it too much. That ending. My oh my. That ending. I didn’t see that one coming.
The third act goes all hellbent batshit crazy with devastating consequences as something far more sinister is revealed.
Worth the watch for that ending alone. Tyler Perry certainly knows how to close out with a bang.

Summary
Palpable, gripping and a stellar Crystal Fox performance carries me through Tyler Perry’s debut Netflix feature film.
I wish he had spent more than 5 days on the movie.
Many actors said their scenes were shot in one or two takes, if more time had been put into performances aside from Crystal and Bresha, this could have been something special indeed!
