It seems as though Catwoman has always had a naughty streak as an abandoned comic art shows Catwoman naked strolling around Wayne Manor.
Catwoman Naked Walking Around Wayne Manor
Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, certainly isn’t afraid to push boundaries. Always known as one of the sexier characters in the Batman universe.
In very early issues of the Catwoman relaunch (part of The New 52) she bared all around Wayne Manor. Talk about being a bit too forward Miss Kyle.
The storyline was eventually abandoned but the artwork is still available to view from artist Guillem March.
The storyline revolved around Kyle who believed Batman and Bruce Wayne were the same person. She came to this conclusion as she had kissed each one (or one of the same).
For some reason kissing turned into stripping. She takes off her catsuit and strips naked on the lawn while Bruce and Alfred watch on gobsmacked via the CCTV cameras.
Cleverly covered with reaction panels this is certainly one of the more risqué scenes within the DC universe.
Uncolored
Artist Guillem March released the unused art back in 2014 on his blog.
Explaining the saucy scene he said:
Some people will say they were censored, but that’s not exact. The new pages were not a toned down version of these, they were telling another story.
Actually, we had a big turning point here that could have changed the whole book from this point: Selina knows who Batman is. […] Maybe DC didn’t want to explore that storyline.
The action in this scene was a depiction of who Selina was: a woman taking advantage of her sexuality to get something from a man.
That made sense according on how the character had been approached in the earlier New52.
I was asked to draw some new pages from a new piece of script and I got an explanation about why DC wanted to change the story and get some new pages done.
But I guess it all had to do with the sexy depiction of Selina in these original pages.
I didn’t mind at all, since it wasn’t my fault and I got paid for the extra job. The only thing I don’t like is to work on stuff that remains unused.
Coloured Images
It seems as though the storyline was also changed completely in the process as some of the art had already been colored in.
Perhaps a new script was the only thing standing in the way of this issue being released rather than the naughty content itself.
Whilst it does push a certain limit in terms of comic art for DC it’s tastefully done and isn’t too in your face but you can see why it was met with a little criticism. Only a little.
