Animator’s Palate Review: Disney Magic at Sea UK Staycation

Animators Palate Disney Cruise

A restaurant located on the Disney Magic during our Disney Magic at Sea UK Staycation and certainly one of the best! Here’s our Animator’s Palate review.

Part of the standard rotational dining onboard the Disney Magic Animator’s Palate combines a fine-dining experience with a quirky and entertaining show.

Through the power of Imagineering Animator’s Palate starts off by exploring the world of Disney character drawings.

The restaurant is black and white upon entry much like the initial first sketch of any given character.

You sit down at your table where you’re greeted with a drawing sheet and a pen to create any character you wish from your own imagination.

With various artwork around the restaurant, it’s only a matter of time before the place comes alive with vibrant colour and your very own drawings come to life around the room!

Animator’s Palate Food

The food on offer is described as a savoury fusion of Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking and fresh California fare paint a delicious culinary picture nightly.

We were absolutely spoiled for choice with what items to order but thankfully being a Disney Cruise you can order as many starters, mains or desserts as you like!

I dived right in with what looked to be the poshest starter on the menu, the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes.

Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes

Starter Animators Palate

This beautiful starter consisted of Pasta purses filled with truffle-scented cheese and coated with a champagne sauce.

Diving right into my first-ever rotational dining meal onboard the Disney Cruise the first bite was something that can only be described as magical.

A rich starter but the creaminess of the sauce mixed with the champagne sauce exploded my tastebuds and the portion size was just enough to handle without the dish becoming too sickly.

An absolutely outstanding start to the Animator’s Palate dining experience and the best was yet to come!

Ginger Teriyaki dusted Angus Beef Tenderloin

Mains Animators Palate

Served on Wasabi mashed potatoes with Bok Choy and a Tamarind Barbeque Reduction this main course was a work of art.

The meat cut like butter and it was cooked to perfection and whilst I couldn’t taste the Wasabi in the mashed potato the flavours that came through the beef overpowered anything else within the dish.

Lost in a world of ooh’s and ahh’s with every bite taken this main course was certainly the stand-out performer of the evening for me with every course providing the highest of standards in service as well as flavour.

Chocolate Fudge Cheesecake

Animators Palate Dessert

Cheesecake with a chocolatey base brought a flavourfully rich end to a wonderful culinary experience.

Presented with an eye-catching flair on the wonderful Animator’s Palette plates this dessert went down a treat and with dessert came the show we’ve all been waiting for!

Animator’s Palette Experience

Disney Animators Palate

Once we had sent our drawings off to the kitchen, Mickey pops up on screen and says he’s working on some magic to turn our drawings into something special.

After dessert, our drawings came to life on the big screen as I saw my rather terrible drawing dancing around the room.

With lighting, music and the animated flair oozing out of every corner Animator’s Palette is one magical experience.

The servers went above and beyond as I experienced the best dining serving of my entire life.

Friendly staff where no request is ever too big and they’re always helpful and speedy with drinks and food.

It was run with military-like precision and I loved absolutely every second of it.

Animator’s Palate was my standout dining experience onboard the Disney Magic and was the best meal I had throughout the cruise and that’s saying something as every other restaurant was absolutely world-class.

I want to express a huge thank you to CelebVM for sponsoring our trip (not this post) as without you guys I wouldn’t have been able to experience such a wonderful journey.
