It has been announced this week that a potential Bluey-themed roller coaster could be coming to Alton Towers as speculation ran rife on social media when the planning documents were unveiled.

Fans took to the Staffordshire Moorlands planning application website to check out the new plans for a brand new family roller coaster which is set to be replacing the classic Postman Pat ride within the CBeebies Land area of the park.
The planning application states that the proposal will remove an existing attraction and to replace it with a new attraction and ancillary buildings (station and maintenance) within CBeebies Land.
This junior rollercoaster is aimed at young children and will be open to the public in 2026.
No details about the ride manufacturer or the theme of the ride have been revealed at this stage but with a Bluey character meet and greet being added to the park in 2024 not to mention the brand new Bluey-themed hotel rooms at CBeebies Land Hotel, it’s not out of the question that an attraction could be themed around the popular children’s IP.
There’s also a Bluey feature film scheduled to launch in 2027 the speculation has some weight to it.

Listed as ‘Project Sunshine’ on planning documents the coaster will feature a simple layout with themed elements throughout. Guests will enter the station which will be themed around a house and that is the only information we know at this early stage.
Last month it was revealed on social media that the park had applied for planning permission for the ride, something the park has never done in the past before. No doubt this was to stop certain websites from reporting on the application before they could officially announce it themselves.
The message read:
Exciting news! We’ve submitted a planning application for a brand-new junior coaster in CBeebies Land, which we hope to open in 2026. If approved, this new attraction will be perfect for our youngest thrill-seekers and their families to enjoy together. Stay tuned for updates – we can’t wait to share more!
Whilst this is exciting news for families visiting the Staffordshire resort it’s a shame that a classic ride like Postman Pat has been sacrificed to make way for this coasters.
Families are on Postman Pat for a solid 4+ minutes of ride time and this particular coaster looks like a very short duration indeed, even if it did two laps.
2024 saw The Blade, The Alton Towers Dungeons and Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango close for good at the resort and now Postman Pat can be added to that list as the future of this Staffordshire park is still uncertain.
Whilst the previous three rides currently have no replacements planned at this moment in time it’s good that Postman Pat is at least being replaced and not just left as empty space.
Alton Towers certainly seem to be going in a more family-friendly direction and stepping away from the thrillseeker market with many of their recent investments but we wish them all the best with this lovely little family addition.
I’d just avoid going on opening day as I know full well there will be a queue of childless adults queuing up to ride it the second it opens.
It’s not weird, it’s not weird at all…
