With the trailer recently released for the upcoming James Bond movie No Time to Die we reflect on our favorite Daniel Craig Bond movie, Casino Royale.
Daniel Craig’s first appearance as the suave super-spy was met with criticism before it even hit the big screen. The bandwagon was loaded full of people who thought Daniel Craig wasn’t fit for the role of 007.
Opinion soon changed when this absolute powerhouse of a movie premiered in the theatres. A solid cast coupled with superb action choreography and Daniel Craig channeling a more humanized Bond. A character trait that none of his predecessors brought to the table.
The intense Casino scenes opposite Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) and the palpable chemistry between Craig and Eva Green’s character Vesper Lynd made Casino Royale a fan-favorite. The movie completely defined Bond as a character and sealed Daniel Craig in his role for the next three installments. Whilst Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre didn’t deliver to the same level of Casino Royale this fourth revisitation of the character has promise.
No Time to Die seems to draw inspiration from previous Craig Bond movies. An almost showreel like structure that displays the best of the best from each movie. We have a bike chase reminiscent of the roof-top bike chase from Quantum of Solace. We have the beautiful Aston Martin DB5 which was integral to the storyline of Skyfall and we have the glossy cinematography that proved a saving grace to SPECTRE‘s lackluster plot.
Casino Royale Movie Posters
I’m very excited to see what this next movie has in store for us all. But I’ll certainly be going back and watching all the previous Craig Bond movies before rolling into the theatres. To whet your appetite ahead of the next movie we have a few Casino Royale posters all varying in design. Let’s go back to the start and work our way forward. They say they save the best till last but this one is going to take some beating!
Out of all the posters above which one is your favorite? I’m quite keen on the animated art myself. Especially the playing card variant. It really pops. All this talking about casinos makes me want to suit up, rock up to my nearest casino and play Blackjack until the money rolls in or when that fails the slots!
