Check Out This Wolf Of Wall Street Inspired ‘Boss Bastard’ Fragrance

Inspired by Leonardo DiCaprio’s portrayal of Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street perfumer Aaron Terence Hughes created the Boss Bastard fragrance.

Boss Bastard Fragrance

One of my all-time favourite movies and it seems as though it’s one of Aaron Terence Hughes too.

Boss Bastard is set to capture that exaggerated top tier level of confidence with a sexy swagger and a give no f**ks attitude.

Aaron Terence Hughes is a British Independent Perfume House.

Unlike many designer brands who provide small % levels of concentration in their fragrances, Aaron uses 25% concentration utilising the finest floral absolutes, exotic woods and exciting fragrance notes.

Using more naturals in his fragrances Aaron Terence Hughes has quickly grown year after year and is quickly becoming a must-have name in your niche fragrance collection.

After seeing numerous videos from Aaron’s YouTube channel this Christmas I took the plunge and purchased a 10ml bottle of Boss Bastard to try it out for a very reasonable £18 (plus postage) before taking the leap with a full 50ml bottle.

After cheekily asking for an autograph in my order I had a parcel arrive two days later and here’s what was inside.

It’s very well known that the Salford based perfumer is a kind and generous soul donating large portions of his profits to numerous charities but this was something else.

I only paid £18 for a sample and nothing more, I wasn’t even expecting an autograph let alone the 50ml sample of Legend (worth £62) and a little mini-sample of Raw Cherry.

Aaron if you ever stumble across this article, thank you, truly.

The 10ml option for these fragrances is a solid choice because rather than small 1ML-3ML samples that most companies send out you get a solid month or two months worth in a 10ML bottle if used wisely.

£18 for 10ml is a bargain to me!

The 10ml sample comes in a very simple yet smart black vertical box adorned with the unicorn logo for Aaron’s company.

For a sample size, I wasn’t expecting anything too fancy.

Just a glass bottle with a cheap sticker on would have suited me just fine but even the 10ml bottles look smart.

This sleek bottle with a brushed metal plate with the fragrance name etched into it is a very stylish look indeed.

I can imagine a little army of these on my fragrance shelf all looking as sleek, slimline and smart as they do.

There’s a very impressive packaging and bottle here.

Boss Bastard ‘The Scent’

Aaron Terence Hughes

On Aaron’s website he said the following about his fragrance Boss Bastard:

When I designed this I drew inspiration from Leonardo DiCaprio in the film The Wolf of Wall Street, I was inspired by him sitting in a leather chair smoking a Cuban cigar giving zero fucks. A total Boss Bastard!

A scent for that suit-wearing manager or player in the game with a beautiful range of notes within its collection.

Bergamot / Lemon / Mandarin

Cedar Wood / Amber / Honeyed Tobacco

BASE

Cocoa / Vetiver / Sandalwood / Musk

With a Bergamot and Lemon opening, I was expecting a sweet citrus scent opening.

In full disclosure, I’m not a HUGE fan of a sweet citrus opening as I always get furniture cleaner/cleaning product vibes and this was evident within seconds of spraying Creed Aventus on my skin for the first time a few weeks ago.

I was not a fan and I was praying the dry down was better (it was).

With Boss Bastard though however, you get a hint of sweetness for a fleeting moment until the Honeyed Tobacco comes charging at you like a raging bull.

It skewers the lemon onto its mighty horns, tramples the Bergamot and makes the Mandarin its bitch.

Now I’m not a perfumer or expert by any means but my god you’d have thought the Tobacco was the top note (the first scent/s to hit you when you smell a fragrance) it was incredibly prominent.

What a beautiful spicy scent as the Amber and Cedarwood is almost keeping this raging bull charging. It has a very dominant smell to it as though the second you’ve put it on in your penthouse tower block office you’ve gone out and fired Janice in accounting for making a simple calculating error.

It’s bold, it’s rash, it wants results and it wants them now. This fragrance isn’t waiting on no body.

It has this give no shit attitude and smells to me very much like a masculine dominant scent (it is marked as unisex on the website).

As it dries down it takes on an incense style quality but still has this mature vibrance to it.

Midway through typing this article after wearing it on my skin for a solid 3 hours already, I got a hint of cocoa coming through and my god.. the temptation to keep bringing my wrist up to my nose has never been more prominent.

I feel like an alpha boss bastard just wearing it.

Such a beautifully crafted scent and already strong on my skin after 3 hours I can imagine this being an 8 hour+ performer if not longer.

Boss Bastard is now priced at £80 for 50ml which is expensive but for a niche scent, for the quality of its ingredients and the longevity of the scent, not to mention the 25% concentration, it’s worth every penny.

I’ve paid close to triple for a fragrance that hasn’t even lasted on my skin for 3 hours, you’re paying £80 for a fragrance that Aaron could easily charge in the £150-£200 range for and that just has to be commended.

You may think I’m being extra generous in exchange for the kindness that Aaron has shown me by sending me some extra goodies for free but for those who know me, I’m always honest and I’ll always continue to be in these reviews.

Why?

Because I’m a Boss Bastard, that’s why!

If you didn’t know already the real Jordan Belfort also has his own range of Wolf of Wall Street fragrances.

Two in fact, as both fragrances have had reviews comparing it to Creed products including the best selling Creed fragrance Aventus. A fragrance I just was NOT a fan of when it arrived on my doorstep this Christmas. See my review HERE.

Priced at £95 for 100ml you can pick up either fragrance HERE
