Step into the magic of animation as you watch Frozen 2 created before your very eyes as we review Into the Unknown now available on Disney Plus.

Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2 takes behind the scenes to a whole new level with a full series shot in Disney documentary style.
It’s within this documentary we see the concept to the final design of how Frozen 2 came to be as we go behind the scenes into the boardroom, the dailies, and the animation department to watch how Frozen 2 was meticulously created with a diehard and dedicated team who spent years of their life on this project.
The creative process is explored like never before. We start the documentary with 11 months left before the film is due to release and 20% of the movie has already been completed. Instantly the race (and the stress) is on to get the songs, animation, story and more all completed before cinematic release.
From watching audio sessions with actors Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel to watching stressed out composers changing songs at the last minute this series has it all.
Going over mere seconds of footage at the end of every day and perfecting it for the animators to go away, work on it and come back the next day was stressful for me to watch. How on earth they have the patience to do that every single day is beyond me!
During various parts of the documentary such as boardroom meetings etc, I must admit I got a little bored but for those more interested in that side of the creative process I’m sure they’d love it.
The magic for me was watching the film come together before my very eyes. The very pencil drawings we had seen earlier in an episode now fully animated, choreographed and with audio added to achieve cinematic perfection.
Throughout the series, there’s a huge pressure on the team to create a product that at the very least equaled the quality and appeal of the first movie. That’s no mean feat as the first movie grossed around $1.5 billion!
With numerous candid moments and maybe at times too much depth on board meetings and creative direction this documentary is certainly the depth of a behind the scenes unlike anything we’ve seen before.
