Violence. Speed. Momentum: The Incredibly (Un)true and Undeniably Dominant Story of… Dr Disrespect is now in our hands as we bring you our Dr Disrespect book review.
A signed copy of this very book was in my hands yesterday.
I held the book, admired the signature and felt its presence.
Admittedly I’ve seen a good 10-15 minutes of Dr Disrespect content but my friend buys his merchandise religiously, raves about his content and enjoys his material hence how the book came into my posession.
There’s no denying that Dr Disrespect has taken the world of streaming by storm and my thoughts about his book only reflect my honesty of what is put in front of me.
My opinion is of no reflection or disrespect (get it?) to the powerhouse career this man has achieved within his superstardom status.
But let me get this out of the way really darn quickly.
This book is painful to read.
Unless you’re 12.
The last handful of books I read have included Motley Crue’s The Dirty, Steve-O’s Professional Idiot: A Memoir and Corey Taylor’s Seven Deadly Sins.
All three books I’d recommend you pick up for a better read instead, but do Doc fans care about his book?
Really?
No, they want to support the guy, throw their hard-earned money at YouTube donation screens in the hope of a shoutout and be a part of the stratosphere shattering shockwave that is Doc and his meteoric rise into the champions club.
I just can’t wrap my head around why this book wasn’t an audiobook instead. Reading each page felt like a challenge in itself and the personality that projected from the pages felt forced.
It feels as though the challenge of portraying the doc’s persona through the pages became too much to comprehend and the book resorts to pages (and I mean pages) of his catchphrase yayayyayaya.
This reads so lazy and so amateurish but that was the decision made when deciding on making this book.
An audiobook would have been the much better and more logical option because this book reads exactly like one and a good one at that!
With crazy puns and forced comedy that just doesn’t hit home on pages, it would come to life if read by the man himself.
Violence, Speed, Momentum completely goes left field and becomes weird and nonsensical as written content. There’s no deep insight, no real engagement or attempt at drawing in the reader it’s just a highlights reel of randomness.
With such chapters as how to have an amazing moustache and how to obtain a Lamborghini, it just feels like random ideas thrown onto a page to bulk out a book with the only thing of value in this copy of the book in my hands right now being Doc’s autograph.
If you read one or two pages and put it down you may just be able to get through this but if you’re after a powerhouse reading session it’s a case of when you will get bored rather than if.
Doc has a wonderful story to tell but for some reason just can’t seem to tell it coherently.
It feels as though there was a lot of pressure to get that persona across in written format and it is world’s apart from the astounding Fifth Vital by Mike Majlak.
That book had a purpose, a real for existing, a message to tell and a story to educate others.
If anything, I feel a little dumber after reading this one.
Why write a book about a persona when the whole idea is for fans to get to know you as a person before the persona was born and how that persona has changed the landscape moving forward.
I can see why it hasn’t been included but these are the details fans would be interested in hearing that will further invest themselves into the persona if they knew the man behind the moustache.
It just seems like an obvious area of interest to cover rather than adding a mystique that already exists and doesn’t need to be embellished from cover to cover.
A book for those with short attention spans, die-hard fans that would have been happy with 256 empty pages and those who are far too invested in the man to pass a bad comment it’s just a bit, meh.
But I’m just a nobody writing a review about a somebody.
A terribly written, grammatical mess of a review that for some reason people will still log onto my site to read.
If this book was trying to gimme the love, then it certainly wasn’t doing a good job of doing so, tonight.
But to weave a long story short.
Is Violence. Speed. Momentum: The Incredibly (Un)true and Undeniably Dominant Story of… Dr Disrespect really that bad of a read?
The answer to that is.
yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayaya

Dr Disrespect Book Review by Sean Evans
Our Rating
Summary
It tries way too hard to convey the persona that is Dr. Disrespect but falls hard with lazy integration and incoherent ramblings throughout.
Whilst it fails horribly as a book that truly grips you this could really thrive in the champions club if this product was turned into an audiobook.
