Evil Genius Netflix Review
A 2018 true crime documentary series about the murder of Brian Wells. A high-profile 2003 incident often referred to as the “collar bomb” or “pizza bomber” case.
The obsessiveness of co-directors Barbara Schroeder and to an even larger extent Trey Borzillieri helps to keep this four part series entirely gripping throughout, despite the fact that the full truth about the notorious 2003 “Pizza Bomber” case will never see the light of day.
Hollywood screenwriters would have a tough time coming up with the various idiocies seen here; they sorta tried with 2011’s dark comedy 30 Minutes or Less.
What remains is a compulsively watchable exploration of societal dregs in Erie, PA who get involved with a cockamamie plan to rob a bank.
But not before strapping a live-bomb around the neck of a pizza delivery man. The same man who is then tasked with the heist and a series of byzantine scavenger hunt clues to disarm the explosive device. Yes, it’s a series that gets crazier every single minute you watch it.
But that’s just one strand of this insane web of personal derangement, as the apparent masterminds, Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong and Bill Rothstein.
These pair who were absolutely insane! SO much so that the piece becomes a massive indictment of the mental health crisis that the world currently faces.

Summary
Executive produced for Netflix by the Duplass Brothers, this is outlandish stuff with a smoked-crack-flavor that has the potential to drive you nuts with its fine details, and the haunting questions that will forever remain unanswered.
