Gandeys Circus Unbelievable Tour: A Jaw-Dropping Spectacle

Gandeys Circus Unbelievable tour has rolled into town and I was first in line to see the brand new show currently situated in Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire.

There’s nothing quite as magical as going to see a circus performance and so far I’ve seen two already this year.

My third circus experience in 2020 was certainly the best and that’s all thanks to Gandeys!

Gandeys Circus Unbelievable Tour Review

One year ago we had the joy of seeing Gandeys Greatest Show and it was a very impressive show indeed.

From contortionists to tight rope walkers the show really had it all, never stopping for one moment this high-octane show was certainly a 2019 highlight for me.

Going into this particular production I was thinking I’d see more of the same. I was under the assumption that there really couldn’t be much variety to a circus show.

I was expecting an identical show of last year which certainly wasn’t a bad thing, in fact, it was superb, but I was expecting a very similar performance nonetheless.

Seconds into the show and boy was I proved wrong!

We sat down and instantly we’re being told a story. Andreea and Chico our circus clowns are on a tour of the world. Around the world in 80 minutes they say.

From Victorian England through to America and even Africa and the show begins.

Each act is from each individual country that Andreea and Chico are travelling to and suddenly this giant big top circus tent turns into one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen in my life!

A Mind-Blowing Introduction

It all starts off with a dance routine but it’s not the dancing we’re focusing on here.

Using projection mapping and lasers the dancers turn a standard routine into one of the most futuristic and incredible things I’ve ever seen in my life.

We had holograms, laser dancing, the whole circus big top turned into this futuristic virtual reality dance off-platform. I can’t put into words how incredible this was.

It genuinely felt as though we were inside a game or some sort of weird futuristic landscape.

I can’t really say too much without ruining the experience of ruining the illusion but this light show was astonishing.

Five minutes into the Gandeys performance and it was already living up to its name, unbelievable.

What’s in Store at Gandeys Circus in 2020?

Without spoiling too much by going in-depth of each individual act I will say that there is something for everyone on offer with this tour.

I didn’t think for one second it would be any different than last year.

Aside from 2 large set-piece acts the entire show was completely different.

The two set-piece acts in question were the wheel of death and the motorbike Thunderdome.

Easily the two most dangerous acts in the show and certain two acts I could never get bored of seeing!

Last year there was only one wheel of death whereas this year there were two going around at once and in the Thunderdome, there were only three bikers last year, this year there were five!

Even worse was the wheel of death where one of the acts stumbled. I wanted to look away but at the same time, I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

Thankfully he found his footing and carried on putting his life at risk like the consummate professional that he is, you go Glenn Coco!

My heart was in my mouth as I was filming footage for this very article.

Watching in disbelief at what I was seeing.

These guys put their lives on the line every single day for our entertainment and they deserve all the credit and respect in the world.

Clowning Around

The famous Gandeys clown Chico has a friend this year and her name is Andreea.

Throughout various segments where set pieces are being changed for the next act Chico and Andreea come out and lighten the tension from the act before it.

From hilarious snake-charming antics to an audience participation section that left tears in my eyes this really is comedy for all ages.

You can tell Chico has been doing this for a long time, he’s an absolute master of comedy. Such silly humor that appeals to young and old audiences alike.

Chico and Andreea had great chemistry together and certainly brought a smile to everyone’s face.

You’re so concentrated on their performance that the set swap-overs happen in a flash and you’re straight back in the action.

There’s no pausing or waiting it’s all fluid and transitions from act to act really superbly.

Highlights

From sky swings to roller skating this Gandeys show threw us headfirst into great acts from across the world.

My personal favorite act has to be the motorbike Thunderdome, It’s just too good not to love!

That light show thou, I’m still in disbelief even typing this very review. That was the highlight of the entire show and an introduction that was so impressive I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Gandeys Circus Unbelievable Tour Finale

The big finale involved a Mexican Day of the Dead celebration and a giant hot-air balloon inside the circus top that has sent Chico and Andreea around the world in 80 minutes.

Making room not only in the ring but around the stalls of the audience this fully immersive show is fun for all the family.

I’m a huge kid so I’m going to try and go again soon. I need to get some better photos for you guys whilst they’re in the local area!

A jaw-dropping show that I absolutely didn’t want to end.

Gandeys certainly aren’t lying when they say that this tour is unbelievable, it has to be seen to be believed.

 I certainly needed a helping hand from my good friend Dean to help pick my jaw up off the floor when the show came to its conclusion.
