We finally get our hands on the Back to the Future Playmobil DeLorean now available to own!

An escape from life as Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown along with his wacky invention of a time-traveling DeLorean go on an adventure back to the 1950’s. Here Marty meets his parents when they’re younger and runs the risk of changing his future, as well as disrupting the entire space-time continuum. The big question is how to get back to the future?
This Back to the Future Playmobil DeLorean will take you back to the first day you saw Back to the Future on the big screen. This beautiful set contains Marty, Doc, and Einstein the dog as well as the legendary DeLorean DMC-12.
The set also comes with a plutonium tank, light up flux bands and flux capacitor, time travel components and the whole DeLorean can switch to flight mode for that Back to the Future II mod.
Back to the Future Playmobil DeLorean Assembly

Consisting of 64 parts this build is for ages 6 and up.
I found the instructions to be poor indeed and an adult would definitely need to supervise with the build.
The Playmobil simple packaging is also an issue. The DeLorean shell had no protection in the box and was being banged around during transport.
Thankfully no major damage to the model was suffered but there are a few scratches and marks on the model that would not have been there had it been packaged properly.
Assembly time clocked in at around 15 minutes with poor instructions showing random arrows to add your stickers onto the model without much clear direction extending that build time.
Speaking of the stickers, one of mine was actually missing upon arrival. Sent out from the factory minus a sticker. I imagine this is an easy replacement but hopefully, this isn’t an issue with retail versions.
The wheel hubs fitting into the tyres is always a little bit of a struggle. Certainly not something a 6-year-old would be able to do without adult supervision.
The plastic gullwing doors are very flimsy indeed so be very careful with you lift those up and the wheels that fold down are a little stiff to convert, to say the least so be very careful with them. If you force them they will snap.
Model Quality

Poor instructions aside when the model is complete it looks superb. The mini-character figures are vibrant and really suit the set well and when you add batteries (X2 AAA) to the car it really comes alive.
The flux capacitor lights up beautifully and the flux bands have two modes.
One is the time travel mode where all the lights are flashing and one is the static mode where the lights don’t flicker or move.
I loved the fact that the majority of the DeLorean was already built in advance.
After spending two years building the Eaglemoss DeLorean model I know just how many parts went into the actual screen-used car and my god I was happy not to revisit that build.
Most of the time travel components at the back and inside the car are all there ready to go!
Overall

This DeLorean is more expensive than the Porsche Mission E and the Ghostbusters car so it’s a tad on the expensive side. The Ghostbusters car was much larger and the Porsche Mission E was remote controlled.
I feel as thou the model is just ever so slightly overpriced. It’s certainly the most expensive Playmobil movie car to date in the recent release range.
If you’re diehard Back to the Future fan like myself it’s a very small oversight indeed.
It’s a wonderful little model that looks great in a display cabinet.
