Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 2024 Maze Guide

HHN 33

Halloween Horror Nights 2024 (or 33 if you’re keeping count) is just around the corner and it’s our first year of attending this incredible event so we thought we’d put together a little maze guide for you ahead of this epic fright nights extravaganza.

HHN 33

All mazes for the upcoming HHN event have been announced and there’s quite the line-up this year with franchise and original mazes to choose from. Such IP mazes as A Quiet Place, Ghostbusters, Insidious and the Universal Classic Monsters are making an appearance as well as original concept ideas.

What I love about the Halloween Horror Nights events is that people get so excited about the IP mazes and attend for those but often come away from the event more impressed by the original ideas mazes as they can broaden the spectrum as opposed to a franchise maze which is self-contained to the story of that particular film.

Five scare mazes have also been announced for Universal Orland Florida with a choice to be made upon entry where guests can decide to go down the visceral horror of SINIST3R or the unearthly terror of SURR3AL. There’s also the Demon Queens scare zone, Swamp of The Undead, Torture Faire and the most recently announced Blumhouse scare zone where guests will come face to face with Blumhouse characters such as The Grabber and M3GAN.

Here’s a breakdown of the 10 mazes that are coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2024 in what is officially their 33rd event!

A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place HHN 33

I’m really curious to see how this particular maze will operate considering the whole premise of the movie is that residents must stay quiet at all times. Will guests have to follow the same rule or will it merely be themed around familiar scenes from the films?

From the farmhouse to the woods and the foundry, it seems multiple familiar scenes from all three movies will be set up in the maze and I cannot wait to see how this one pans out.

Creative Director of Halloween Horror Nights John Murdy posted that the maze will feature amazing set pieces and the creatures inside will be both animated and puppeteered.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire HHN

Who you gonna call?

I made sure to check out Frozen Empire before I fly to Florida just so I’m up to speed with what the film is about and if HHN are going to pull off a cool chilled maze it’s going to be very popular in Floridian temperatures.

With food trucks themed up around the park, they’re going all out to advertise that Ghostbusters is back at HHN and whilst the film is a lot to be desired I’m sure the maze will be incredible.

It was back in 2019 that Ghostbusters last had a maze at Halloween Horror Nights but for nostalgia’s sake I hope they pay tribute to classic Ghostbusters movies too just in case folks haven’t seen the latest (rather mediocre) instalment.

Insidious: The Further

Insidious The Further HHN 33

Debuting at Halloween Horror Nights back in 2015 the original Insidious house threw in some Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 references but this year’s maze looks to be focusing on The Last Key and The Red Door movies specifically as you enter the Red-Faced Demon’s lair and try to keep away from KeyFace.

I’m really intrigued to see how Insidious plays out at HHN because the last maze looked very basic when it debuted in 2015. We know the level of detail that Universal can pull off but this particular maze felt very safe and very basic compared to much more impressive additions at that particular event.

We hope they step it up as the scale of the lair and the detail they could put into the sets is a creative wonderland of opportunity.

Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines

Universal Monsters Eternal Bloodlines HHN 33

Out of all the IP mazes I’m most excited for this one as the ladies are about to kick some ass as the maze follows Saskia Van Helsing and the Bride of Frankenstein as they battle against Dracula’s daughter, the She-Wolf of London, and the mummified Egyptian princess Anuck-Su-Namun.

I genuinely cannot wait for this one as there may be some hints, winks and nods to the Dark Universe within this maze teasing the future Epic Universe area entirely themed around Universal Monsters.

Expect immersive sets and some wonderful walkthrough experiences that will centre themselves around sets themed to each particular character. I genuinely cannot wait for Eternal Bloodlines!

Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America

Monsters of Latin America

We’re kicking off the first original-themed maze with an award winner!

Winning House of the Year at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023 it’s time for Florida to experience this Latin American-themed maze as we follow La Muerte to survive the horrors of three Latin American legends: Tlahuelpuchi, the Mexican bloodsucker; La Lechuza, the Witch Owl known throughout Mexico and Texas, determined to seek vengeance on those that wronged her; and El Silbón, known throughout Colombia and Venezuela for killing and torturing his victims but making his presence known through a specific whistling tune.

Slaughter Sinema 2

Slaughter Cinema 2

For those of you who want the TEMU version of this maze then you should check out TRAILERS at Thorpe Park but we’re diving into the deep end with Slaughter Sinema 2 as for the first time since its debut in 2018, it makes a return.

Set around 80s B-movie horrors Slaughter Sinema was a very popular house and with creature features, grindhouse gore and spaghetti westerns being this year’s cinematic theme I cannot wait to see what’s in store for this horror-themed walkthrough experience.

The Museum: Deadly Exhibits

The Museum Deadly Exhibits

With this particular maze being teased in The Mummy rollercoaster shop there isn’t much information that has been released about The Museum: Deadly Exhibits just yet however there have been Behind the Scenes tours of the maze already before Halloween Horror Nights so we know small bits of information.

The Rotting Stone is a new exhibit but the stone itself is cursed and brings the museum exhibits to life. Mesopotamia, European and Asian folklore have all been resurrected before our eyes as we traverse the maze.

I’m not a huge fan of having the behind-the-scenes tours BEFORE the event because photos and content do get released online and those who are keeping track of the event will unfortunately have things spoiled beforehand but it’s easily avoidable if you just stay off socials, it’s difficult, I know.

Major Sweets Candy Factory

Major Sweets HHN

Originally featuring inside a scare zone in 2022 the evil candymaker who turned the town’s children into crazed killers gets its own maze with an expanded storyline.

Not much else is known about this maze at this moment in time as guests take a field trip through a 1950’s candy factory.

Goblin’s Feast

Goblin's Feast HHN

Welcome to the Goblin’s Feast Tavern and visit the goblin village, where a lavish feast is being prepared for goblins, orcs, hobgoblins and witches.

A twisted fairytale comes to life as guests traverse this original idea maze but once again no further details about the maze have been revealed

Halloween Horror Nights is no stranger to adapting fairy tales and children’s myths into horrifying stories and haunted houses. Previously, the event has featured twists on Hansel & Gretel, the Tooth Fairy, and others, so adapting these mythical creatures into a spooky tale is no

Triplets of Terror

Triplets of Terror HHN

You’re invited to the Barmy triplets’ birthday bash. But beware, they celebrate by recreating their family’s murders. Prepare for a gory gathering.

Those who have done the behind-the-scenes tour so far have said Triplets of Terror looks like the most intense and thrilling maze of the 3 that have been previewed to guests already (Slaughter Sinema 2 and Museum: Deadly Exhibits being the other two).

Tickets are still available from the Universal Orlando website in what is the longest-running HHN event to date and if you hate queues as much as I do then there is a Premium Scream Night where the event is open one day before the public opening day and you get fewer wait times, free food and soft drinks and even staggered entry into the maze which means NO conga lines through the mazes which is the one negative that people have of Halloween Horror Nights.

Roll on Halloween Horror Nights 2024!
