Viral Hatchin Yoshi Toy is Fun… For 5 Minutes!

Hatchin Yoshi

To celebrate the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Spin Master have dropped a Hatchin’ Yoshi toy that has gone absolutely crazy viral online!

The marketing blitz is in full force but I have a feeling that this toy alone is carrying most of that promotional weight as it’s pretty darn fun!

Priced at £60 (yes, really) the toy is activated straight out of the box and the user must interact with it by tapping the egg. You’ll start to hear Yoshi inside the egg as it rocks back and forth and when here’s ready you’ll see the egg crack and his little head pokes out to greet its new owner.

Yoshi Toy Super Mario Galaxy

It’s such a genius toy for that wow factor for any kid (or adult) to witness and the bottom of the egg acts like a display base for the Yoshi toy after it has hatched but there’s one problem after it hatches.

The toy itself is…well.. rubbish.

A few little noises and interactions but that’s about it. Yoshi has already done his party piece simply by hatching and now he’s all out of uses and things to do.

You’re now £60 down with nothing more than a noisy desk ornament for your troubles after getting your video clip of it hatching for your social media pages.

Yes, you’ve just paid money to finance a brand and paid money to promote a film for free via socials.

Eitherway the only person who wins here is the studio behind the movie as Universal and Nintendo must be rubbing their hands together at their absolutely genius toy invention. It’s very much a once and done product and the second it hatches, that’s it, toy use over. Marketing campaign complete.

The Super Marios Bros. Movie released in 2023 made a staggering $1.3 billion worldwide and in a similar vein to the previous movie The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are absolutely flying at the box office with already $375.2M made in just a few days of opening.

The film cost $100M to make and already has made nearly quadruple its budget with no signs of stopping anytime soon!
