Blake Harrison stars and directs in this quirky comedic short. Check out our Hooves of Clay Short Film review.

In our millennial world of roulette dating apps, Instagram filters, and instant gratification, we have thousands of people at our fingertips. So why would you settle for anything less than perfect?
Hooves of Clay is Kerry Kennan-Lynch’s screenwriting debut and Blake Harrison’s first directing debut. The entire short was self funded and as a result this wonderful little short was born.
Exploring the millennial generation is always a minefield. From snowflake society to this insatiable attitude of the swipe right society as people search for perfection.
Completely unaware that perfection does not exist people still aren’t happy with overlooking a flaw of someone’s personality. This Kardashian injected society of which we now inhabit has given us a false image of not only how we should act but how we live.
Hooves of Clay star and director Blake Harrison along with his co-star Rebecca Humphries take this idea of online dating and judgement and display it front and center with comedic aplomb.

In this 16 minute short our story revolves around Guy (Harrison) and Jill (Humphries) who are back at Jill’s flat after a date.
She’s as nerdy and quirky as he is. Things seem to be going well until Guy freezes up at certain moments.
What results is a revelation that explores self-confidence and this constant judgement he has received as a result of a certain ‘flaw’.
Every single one of us has a certain insecurity about themselves and whilst this particular flaw of Guy’s is laugh out loud hilarious it only serves to amplify how we perceive our own flaws within or about ourselves.
I’m currently cleaning up my laptop screen after spitting an inordinate amount of tea over it at one particular joke! Whilst exaggerated to a stratospheric level the short serves some life lessons. Lessons that definitely need to be taught to the millennial generation. A generation so ignorant to listen to anyone other than a YouTube influencer for life advice.
Hooves of Clay is a how-to erase a millennial attitude manual from start to finish. A little life lesson to live by of not only accepting who we are as people but understanding and loving someone despite their flaws.
A short film that serves to tell us that perfection does not exist and it’s a wasted effort to be chasing it.

Summary
Blake Harrison never fails to provide comedy that was always a certainty throughout the short, but to emotionally balance the piece with some serious topics, now that’s a short I can fully endorse.
