Five years after the tragic death of Paul Walker a brand new feature-length documentary sheds some light on the actor’s private life and his unwanted (for the most part) rise to fame.

I Am Paul Walker combines interviews with family and friends of Paul with never-before-seen footage including audio, photos and home video from his family’s own private collection.
This intimate look inside the actor’s private life paint a picture of a guy who lived by his own rules, went above and beyond to those close to him and constantly fought with Hollywood and stardom and wanted nothing more than to live somewhere quiet, away from the spotlight and enjoy the wonders and experiences of the world.

What I loved the most about this documentary is just how close to home the material is. The incredibly touching footage of Walker growing up coupled with family and friends being interviewed really drives this documentary home from an emotional level.
As the documentary draws to a close it’s quite hard to watch but as a whole, the documentary truly is a wonderful send-off and a tribute to a much-loved man.

Scenes of Walker on set, his charity work including marine conservation and his own charity Reach Out Worldwide are all explored within the duration. It’s just nice to see someone who was so down to earth firmly embedded within the craziness of Hollywood without it ever seeming to go to his head.
As the documentary draws to a close the film focuses on November 30, 2013. The day Walker was tragically killed in a car accident alongside friend and racing driver Roger Rodas. A beautifully crafted documentary ends with this tragic note but regardless of the enviable exploration about the day he died the fond memories drive this beautifully crafted documentary.

Summary
I wish this documentary was longer in duration as I feel this particular feature only touches the surface of who Paul was as a person but as a touching tribute and fond celebration of Paul’s life, I Am Paul Walker is a must-watch!
