Jack & the Beanstalk Butlins Minehead Review

Jack and the Beanstalk Butlins

After our recent trip on our first-ever Butlins, we decided to check out the brand new for 2024 panto and I didn’t regret a single second of it! Here’s our Jack & the Beanstalk Butlins review.

Jack and the Beanstalk Butlins

Before coming into this show I had reservations but to be extra safe we decided to choose the late option of the show as opposed to the afternoon show just in case they were different and it turns out that it was with certain jokes and innuendos being more in tune with adult humour which I’d never seen during a panto before although admittedly I haven’t been to many!

This rather bonkers tongue-in-cheek Panto had me howling in places with a stellar cast delivering in all the comedic areas. My stomach was in knots watching Dottie Trott (Jack’s mother) in full attire belting out innuendo after innuendo and interacting with the crowd.

One poor bloke at the front had his name referenced through the pantomime and this linked the show on stage to the audience rather wonderfully and there was never a dull moment.

Relaxing on a nice table where you can order your drinks, sipping a pint and watching a hilarious panto was certainly my favourite evening of the whole holiday and the best show we saw throughout our stay by a country mile.

Whilst it’s a story we all know and love there are a few added surprises but what blew me away was when we got to meet the giant. There’s something a little special that arrives on stage and it was quite breathtaking to see something that wouldn’t look out of place in Broadway or on the West End grace a Butlins stage.

Despite it being the later show there was still an adunance of children in the audience which is to be expected at Butlins so the show had to be smartly written to wrap those adult jokes in something that everyone can digest but only the adults can fully understand.

I thought the script delivery was superb and the cast were all rather incredible as this fun-filled show boosted the mood of everyone in the audience. We’re all on holiday having a good time and instead of having a cover artist butchering a classic catalogue of radio hits, we had a lovely get-together with drinks, good company and a fantastic show that all the showrunners should be truly proud of!
