Test footage of impressionist Jamie Costa as Robin Williams has recently been posted online and the world stopped briefly for a second.
Robin Williams took the world of comedy by storm forever being in the hearts and minds of all of those who saw his outstanding talent. From iconic movie roles to standup routines it was a sad day when Williams passed away in 2014.
When it comes to playing actors who have passed away it’s hard for anyone to completely get the mannerisms, or the voice or the essence that that person had.
Capturing Robin Williams on screen seemed like an impossible task, maybe it is, no one will ever be the man himself but actor Jamie Costa has certainly brought us all the warmth that Williams possessed in this quite spectacular test footage for ROBIN.
ROBIN is a film that doesn’t exist but with the talent on display here from the body language, the pitch-perfect vocal impression and more it really is a thing of beauty.
With Hollywood casting no doubt throwing a bigger name into the picture to play ROBIN this footage goes quite some way in proving that natural talent should prevail over known ‘big names’ to drive sales.
Costa and his team created a scene where Williams learns about the death of his friend John Belushi in the middle of shooting Mork & Mindy.
Just this brief footage feels like watching Williams back on screen and for those who loved the actor dearly, is quite hard to watch.
It’s very emotional as Costa almost embodies the man himself and if you look away from the screen you’d be convinced that Robin is in the room with you.
