Award-winning artist Jelly Roll has today released his single ‘Run It’ which is one of the original songs set to accompany Sonic 3, the third instalment of the Sonic franchise.

Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen this holiday season in his most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.
Director Jeff Fowler returns along with our all-star cast including Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, newcomers Alyla Browne and Krysten Ritter, with Keanu Reeves joining the franchise as Shadow the Hedgehog.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3, from Paramount Pictures in association with SEGA Sammy Group, opens in cinemas everywhere on December 21, 2024. Advance tickets on sale November 29, 2024.
Jelly Roll wrote the song with numerous collaborations including three-time GRAMMY® Award winner and OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and superstar artist and DJ David Guetta, and GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter Sean Cook. Tedder, Guetta, and Cook co-produced the track as well.

Run It marks the first collaboration between Jelly Roll, Tedder and Guetta as this song is a wonderful blend of country, pop, hip-hop and electronic.
The song has a very fitting message of “We gonna run it, run it, run it till we running out of road!” which is quite fitting for an anthem that will be celebrating one of animation’s fastest character creations in Sonic the Hedgehog.

It’s an upbeat and undeniable anthem that’s as energetic as Sonic himself.
Sonic songs seem to soar to great heights with Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty, and Sueco the Child creating the “Speed Me Up” track for the debut Sonic the Hedgehog movie in 2010 amassing 59 million-plus Spotify streams whilst Kid Cudi’s “Stars In The Sky” for the sequel in 2022 gained 31 million Spotify streams.

Jelly Roll finds himself in good company!
In other Sonic 3 news, character posters were released this morning for the film (you can find them scattered throughout this article).

Run It is an uplifting and catchy tune that perfectly embodies what Sonic is all about, it’s fun, fast and frantic in all of the best ways. I absolutely love the acoustic accompaniment to the song which anchors the song along with an array of handclaps.
Sonic 3 is gearing up for a December 21st, 2024 release date. Missed the trailer for the movie? You can check that out HERE courtesy of Paramount Pictures.
