After the recent release of Fast 9 content including the Fast 9 trailer and the Fast 9 Super Bowl TV spot we’re just gearing up to see more!
Actor John Cena sat down with Total Film to discuss his role in the movie as Dominic Toretto’s brother.
John Cena on Jakob Toretto
Speaking to Total Film, Cena has offered some insight into his character:
“Jakob is a bit of a loner, in being a bit of a loner, he has to craft all the skills that it takes. He’s skilled in performance driving, he’s skilled in combat, he’s skilled in espionage and covert tactics. You see how the Fast family operates. Each member has a distinct set of skills, and that’s why they can make the impossible, possible. Jakob possesses all those skills, which makes him an insurmountable threat.”
Cena has addressed claims that he plays a villain in Fast 9. Quickly jumping on to say he’s not the real villain of this particular movie.
That can only mean one thing. Cypher.
Played by Charlize Theron Cypher is the orchestrator of pain. Her character reminiscent of the god awful introduction of Blofeld in Spectre.
The evil in the wings, the eyes, the ears. The composer of misery.
We have a sneaky feeling that she’s pulling the strings and Jakob is sadly caught in a difficult position. A position where he must face off against his own brother.
Fast 9

I know one thing thou. I know i’m looking forward to Fast 9.
They can churn out as many of these as they like. It’s sit down, disengage brain all-out-action. A cinematic spectacle with high-octane stunts on a large scale.
Synopsis
No matter how fast you are, no one outruns their past. Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon.
This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered.
A man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, next year’s The Suicide Squad).
