Kevin Feige has finally responded to Martin Scorsese’s recent comments about Superhero films. Scorsese said Marvel and DC films are like theme park rides and are not real cinema. To a degree I agree and disagree.

Whilst these movies are enjoyable I do feel as thou they’re just churned out without much thought, they provide short-term thrills, make a tonne of money but none really have substance. Only Infinity War has a genuine impactful story where the others all fall short in that department.

I personally think with many, many more Marvel films on the way they really should have cut ties at End Game

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter Kevin Feige says he see things somewhat differently.

It’s not true,” he says, defending his company’s passion. “Everyone that works on these movies loves cinema.”

I think it’s fun for us to take our success and use it to take risks and go in different places… Everybody has a different definition of art.”

Everyone is entitled to write op-eds about that opinion. And I look forward to what will happen next. But in the meantime, we’re going to keep making movies.”

For escapism into a realm of fantasy you can’t go wrong with superhero movies. But the saturation of them and lack of depth or heart is shocking. Merely catering to a fan service and relying heavily on nostalgia to push ticket sales. The superhero train has to end one day. Scorsese’s MCU Criticism might be accurate to a degree, in my eyes at least.
