Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up Season 1 landed on Netflix December 27th.
A 6-episode docuseries with the comedian who is at the top of his game. Movie star, comedian, influencer, businessman, husband, father.
In this series we get a behind the scenes look at Kevin’s life, his work ethic, his friends and most importantly his family and inspirations.
Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up Season 1
The main focus of the entire series is mainly around three big events of his life in 2019. The Oscars controversy, the cheating scandal and the Irresponsible World Tour. Constantly referenced throughout the series the show hit these topics head-on.
There are no dodging questions, Kevin addresses the issues, admits his flaws and uses the docuseries as a platform for redemption.
I’ve seen many comments from members of the public who have a preconcieved opinion of Kevin.
Even people who have commented on my episode 1 review have said they had a certain image of Kevin in their mind before seeing this. With some saying he’s arrogant, he’s selfish etc and all have said after watching the series that they’re starting to look at him in a different light.
Kevin comes across very humble in every episode, he comes across like he knows he’s not perfect even admitting perfection doesn’t exist but he’s willing to work on himself to iron out as many flaws as he can to be a better person.
It’s also clear from the docuseries just how much he cares for those closest to him. He constantly helps his dad, a man of whom wasn’t there for him as a child and yet he still helps him because he’s his dad at the end of the day.
Kevin also supports his friends and brings them along with him on his journey. There’s much more depth to this series than the surface level material we see in interviews on TV.
Meaningful, inspiring and motivational – Sean Evans
From a broken neighbourhood in Philadelphia to a world-famous superstar. We take a look at his upbringing and how his mom was his sole inspiration. A woman who worked hard and never gave up and this life mantra was inherited by her son.
A strong woman who Kevin speaks about in great detail throughout. In a very emotional scene when Kevin hears he got the Oscars hosting gig he gets teary eyed, looks up to the sky and the first person he gives thanks to is his mother.
We know that things didn’t go according to plan on that front but that scene alone is powerful stuff. It represents what Kevin stands for and of whom inspires him each and every day.
The show as a whole is well structured. Through numerous interviews with Kevin, his wife Eniko and those closest to him we get a bigger picture of who Kevin is as a man, a husband and a father.
Considering the show was shooting throughout a year you can see the personal growth throughout each episode. It’s abundantly clear the passion, the drive and the sheer grit this man has to achieve his dream of reaching that $1 billion mark and making a legacy.
Overall
A man who embraces his flaws and continually strives to achieve. The series acts as a life lesson for us all. This show was a redemption platform.
For old fans, news fans and even future fans alike Don’t F**KThis Up shows Kevin in a completely new light and I hope a season 2 is on the way soon.
