A hilarious Louisiana Police blunder as officers accidentally used the Purge Siren to commencement of a curfew
Frightened residents complained to a local Louisiana Police Department after a Purge Siren was used to signal a curfew.
Residents of Acadia Parish heard the siren that originated in the first Purge movie released in 2013. The movie is set in the near future where one night a year, all crime is made legal, including murder.
The franchise has since expanded into four Purge films, a television series and a planned 5th movie in the works.
The curfew was part of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has seen many movie theatres and businesses close down. Many people are quarantining inside their homes and many lockdowns and curfews have been put in place to stop the spread of the virus.
Louisiana had a curfew in place for Acadia Parish between 9pm and 6am. Anyone caught outside at this time would be punished but when that siren rang. I’m sure the punishment they weren’t expecting was to let everybody out to kill one another.
I’m sorry I couldn’t help but laugh at this Louisiana police blunder.
How epic it must have been for every horror fan to hear that blaring out in their neighbourhood.
I’d have been geared up, mask on, ready to rock and roll!
I joke, I’d have no doubt been in a corner crying somewhere as every filmmaker who’s movie i’ve trashed would be hunting my ass down.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office later issued a statement regarding the blunder:
Last night a ”Purge Siren” was utilized by the Crowley Police Department as part of their starting curfew.
We have received numerous complaints with the belief that our agency was involved in this process.
We were not involved in the use of the “Purge Siren” and will not utilize any type of siren for this purpose. Calls regarding this matter should be directed to the Crowley Police / Chief Broussard and not the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
