If he’s not Wedding Crashing he’s franchise crashing as Owen Wilson is set to feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. News comes today from Deadline that suggest the actor has signed on for a yet unknown role in the upcoming Loki series.
Owen Wilson Joins Cast of Loki
The Disney+ TV series Loki is currently being developed by Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty), with Kate Herron (Daybreak). The series is currently in production ahead of a 2021 planned premiere.
No more details have been revealed at this stage but we are hearing that Wilson will be portraying a ‘lead or prominent character’ in the series. Tom Hiddleston is also set to return as the god of mischief himself.
Naturally had Avengers: Endgame not occurred this series would cease to exist. I’m still quite angry with how Avengers: Endgame unravelled all of the tension, terror and sheer scale of Infinity War. Not many movies get the Swordfish style ending where the bad guy wins.
That’s what ruined Endgame for me, everything Infinity War had built was reversed in some half hearted time travel fiasco. A real shame.
Hearing the news of Owen Wilson returning to the screen in 2020 is also music to my ears. I haven’t seen him in any feature films since the 2017 movie Father Figures and the absolutely beautiful film Wonder.
There’s only so many sofa adverts I can watch starring Wilson without me thinking that his talent is severely wasted just sitting there doing nothing.
Welcome back Owen! Roll on 2021.
