After quite a few years in development and a crowdfunding campaign later Penance Lane is getting an April release. Check out the Penance Lane trailer and poster below.
Crimson Matthews, a repentant-but-violent ex-con, believes he’s found a path to redemption by odd-jobbing on Penance Lane. Unfortunately, Matthews’ work leads him to unearth an unspeakable evil… and discover just how far a dying town will go to bury its past. Now, Matthews has every reason to fear that the dilapidated old house will prove to be not only his latest prison — but his tomb.
Courtesy of Mane Entertainment, Safier Entertainment and Wicked Monkey Productions comes this unique horror dropping April 21st.
Penance Lane has been a movie on the crowdfunding radar since 2013. Many years in the making but it’s great to see the movie is finally completed and ready for release!
The crowdfunding campaign allowed fans to be producers, have their names in the credits and even have a scene in the movie if they donated a certain amount.
Speaking about the campaign back in 2013 to Rock Revolt Magazine producer Renae Gearlings said:
Penance Lane is a dark and brutal horror film with a lot of action and some psychological turns. After taking our first film Compound Fracture on tour and meeting filmgoers face to face, we decided we wanted to bring people in from the get-go with our second film. So a lot of the contribution perks are things like access to our online production diary, a day of shadowing us on set, and walk on roles, along with personalized photos from the cast, and signed scripts and memorabilia.
The movie stars horror icons Tyler Mane and Scout Taylor-Compton.
WWE stars Booker T. Huffman and Diamond Dallas Page also star the movie.
The movie is directed by Peter Engert and you can check out the first release trailer below.
This independent movie has some tasty cinematic shots within the trailer.
It’s safe to say there’s an old school vibe to the trailer that throws us back to horror movies of old.
There won’t be too long to wait though as Penance Lane will be here before you know it.
Level 33 Entertainment will be distributing the movie in the US.
