PGA Pros Try Happy Gilmore Swing For Movies 25th Anniversary

Happy Gilmore Swing

The infamous Happy Gilmore swing where you hit it and hope turns 25 this year and some PGA Tour pros attempted this legendary Adam Sandler shot.

Happy Gilmore Movie

Adam Sandler himself attempted his own shot earlier this year and I must say, his form looks superb.

I know absolutely nothing about golf but that clip looked solid to me.

Golf isn’t the most interesting sport in the world (although I did have fun at Goin Golf Stoke the other day) but Happy Gilmore certainly spiced the sport up a bit.

The movie introduced a whole generation to the sport and brought with it countless one-liners and memories along the way.

Our story revolves around Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) a guy who since he was born always dreamed of being a professional hockey player.

By a stroke of luck, he soon discovers that he may have an even better talent for another sport entirely, golf.

Happy Gilmore

Discovering that his grandmother (Frances Bay) is about to lose her home Happy joins a golf tournament to try and win the prize money to buy it for her.

With his newfound skill of driving a golf ball into the stratosphere and a short temper Happy becomes an unlikely hero in this hilarious 90s comedy.

Released in 1996 we fast forward 25 years later and PGA Tour Pros including Rory Mcllroy, Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods attempt Happy’s iconic swing.

In a video posted by Team Taylormade Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Matthew Wolff, and Tommy Fleetwood all try their hand at the infamous swing with some cracking execution.

The video really has a bit of everything as all the PGA Tour plays sport the custom Happy Gilmore Hockey jersey with his surname on the back.

It’s pretty clear to see that Tiger Woods wipes the floor with the competition (usually always the case) but Rory Mcllroy’s approach is hilarious.

Adam Sandler has always been slated for his comedic roles and whilst critics pan the films the world over they always resonate in the heart of fans.

My entire college life revolved around Happy Gilmore, Mr Deeds, Big Daddy and Billy Madison and they’re just as funny now as they ever were then.

Fast forward a little and we had Click and even more recently the absolutely astounding Uncut Gems.

Whilst scooping up plenty of Razzies along the way I’ll always have much respect for Adam Sandler for being such a big part of my own childhood.
