Amazon Prime Picard Episode 2 Review: Maps and Legends

Picard Ep 2 Episode 2

Picard Episode 2 Review

After quite an impressive opening episode. Another week passes, another Friday is upon us and another episode of Picard is ready for us to review on Amazon Prime.

Titled Maps and Legends episode 2 sends us deeper into the world of Picard. Our second episode sees Picard goes on a mission to investigate the events that occurred in the first episode (no spoilers here).

Whilst another slow episode ensues, Jean-Luc’s story remains the sole hook as Sir Patrick Stewart captures my undivided attention.

The second episode brings more characters but everyone plays a background role to Jean Luc. No one even comes close within the storyline and it does feel as thou every other character is filler in this particular series so far.

It’s here where we go on a fact-finding mission like a Sherlock Holmes detective story. Picard does seem to be labouring already in its second episode which doesn’t bode well for the future. But we persevere.

There’s another series I’d like to bring to your attention featuring a little fuzzy green creature that had already melted my heart by episode 2. Sadly, there’s not really much of note happening in this series thus far other than a stellar acting masterclass from Sir Patrick Stewart.

This episode is very much all talk and not enough action. For newbies like myself it all becomes a little mundane. For experienced Trekkies there may be just enough nostalgia and characters in this to draw your attention span out longer.

The opening scene showing a flash back to 14 years ago when the synths attacked Mars. Certainly a scene die-hard fans would want to check out!
