Not since the series Hollywood Treasure have we had a good movie prop show on the television. In steps Disney+. Enjoy this Prop Culture series first look ahead of the programme going live in May.

Over eight episodes, all available the same day, Lanigan goes on the hunt to find costumes, set designs, music, and props from the movies we know and love.
This brand new series will give fans access like never before to some of the rarest movie props, costumes, and sets on the planet!
Host / Collector Dan Lanigan will delve into the archives and uncover some iconic treasures. The show will land on May 1st and all episodes will be available at once to view.
The episodes will not only explore the props in detail but we’ll see first-hand accounts of how the props helped to shape some of Disney’s most magical moments.
Prop Cultures Releasing May 1st, 2020
(C) Disney+Entertainment Weekly was given the exclusive first look at key art, prop samples and more with a collection of stills and an episode with Dan Lanigan himself. You can check out the full interview HERE.
Dan started collecting as a child and started with replicas. Once he discovered an original prop he became adamant about owning a piece. He was given a Who Framed Roger Rabbit toon gun that years later he found out was a crew gift replica.
Not swayed by finding out his first prop was a replica his passion for the hobby was already in full swing.
You may be asking why only eight Disney films were specifically chosen to be focused on. Dan said that Disney+ wanted to showcase certain films on a grand scale, films that would have meaning to many of the viewers and with the eight films chosen I think we’re in good hands.
The Eight Films Explored in Prop Culture on Disney+
- Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
- Mary Poppins
- Tron
- The Nightmare Before Christmas
- The Muppet Movie
- Who Framed Roger Rabbit
- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
- Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.
The show has full access to the Disney Archives.
Disney is notorious for keeping most of their props to themselves and not many come up in movie prop auctions.
Just a tour of that place alone would be incredible!
A facility where you have to have an X-Ray when you enter the building, a strip search and more. That’s how protective they are of their most iconic pieces of movie history!
With all of the theme park content on YouTube keeping me busy during the isolation I can’t wait for Prop Culture to land on Disney+
I’ve been personally collecting movie props now for half a decade and I could only dream of owning pieces like this but even if you’re not a collector the unrestricted access this show will bring you will satisfy even the smallest Disney fan!
