Love Nest reality TV stars Peter and Susie attend a Halloween scare attraction arranged by their manager.

When they arrive, Pete and Susie are disappointed to discover the event is run by a group of terrible amateur dramatic actors.

After touring the scare attraction they are led into an escape room, where they are locked in. Suddenly the escape room turns deadly as a mysterious gas renders the group unconscious.

When they awake, the reality TV stars find themselves bound and trapped in individual chairs.

Scare Attraction Movie

Scare Attraction is the latest film from Director Steven M. Smith. The film revolves around a pair of reality TV Stars who attend a Halloween scare attraction.

The pair soon find out that it’s an absolute shambles of an event but must stay in order to receive their pay packet for attending.

Soon after entering an escape room they are locked in and gassed. When they awake they find themselves tied to a chair and must confess their sins in order to escape.

Reminiscent of Saw and the surprise 2019 hit Escape Room, Scare Attraction has a little wink and nod to these two classics but without any of the substance beyond that.

Set design/dressing is all but none existent throughout and the escape room is well, an empty room with a countdown clock in it.

Shot in four days on a shoe-string budget Scare Attraction is shot mostly like a mockumentary.

Jon Paul Gates is the host who guides us on a tour of the (and I use this lightly) scare attraction.

Throughout this tour, I found it hilarious as everyone was playing themselves and using their real-life names.

Whilst these guys don’t make Oscar-worthy films they’re a group of mates who make films what they want to make. Kudos to them for doing so!

Throughout this maze, we have a clown room, an escape room, a boxing room, and a mafia room.

I can safely say I’ve never seen a boxing or mafia room in a scare attraction.

I can’t for the life of me think why they were included.

The whole piece played out like an amateur dramatics show. Steven M Smith’s old movies included nuns, mafia themes and boxing themes so it was almost as thou we were being taken on a subtle tour of past slates. Knowingly or subconsciously it was a nice touch regardless.

Scare Attraction Cast

Peter (Elliot Cable) and Susie (Primrose Bigwood) are easily the two strongest characters in this movie.

Their entrance brings along with them a breath of fresh air. Elliot Cable steals the show for me. He’s absolutely loving life and tearing apart this amateur show that he’s not only watching but we are too!

As a viewer, I was wholly invested in his persona as he was projecting exactly how I was feeling watching the movie.

Sonera Angel plays Cathy who is another strong contender in this movie. Supporting Elliot and Primrose as certainly the stand-out performers of the feature.

Overall

indie horror

Whilst the horror is all but non-existent the film is worth a watch.

Take into consideration a 4-day turnaround on a feature film and regardless of what it looks like, that’s no mean feat.

Credit where credit is due. Not bad, not bad at all.

Summary

Ignore the 2 out of 5 stars for a second. This is a movie shot in 4 days after all but to craft ANYTHING in such a short turnaround is worth credit. Worth a watch, but only the once!
