Ghost Adventures: Serial Killer Spirits Ep.1 Review – H.H Holmes

Serial Killer Spirits

Zak Bagans and the Ghost Adventures crew investigate the Irvington, Indiana, home where H.H. Holmes, America’s first serial killer, killed a nine-year-old boy. The current owner believes dark and sinister forces have overtaken the property, leaving her vulnerable to possession.

I take everything paranormal with a pinch of salt nowadays. I’ve joined numerous paranormal investigations where nothing has happened and everyone in the group is on edge and thinking it’s spirit activity when in reality it’s nothing more than a creek of a door, or any other natural explanation.

I’ve done Ouija boards where nothing ever happens, table tipping where I leaned on it a little too hard and the group with me was convinced it was the spirits. It was not, it was me guys!

I’ve laid on morgue tables whilst conducting seances.. nothing. To say I’m a sceptic is a bit of an understatement but I’ll carry on attending just in case something is ever proven to me one day.

H H Holmes

Zak Bagans is always a great watch for me. Regardless of if his findings are real or not (the jury is still out on that one) he’s captivating. His dark ominous voice could make a description of a wedding haunting, chilling and intriguing.

He’s the master of cliffhangers and his show’s success is proof of that. Along with some embellished acting, I feel. Naturally, as a viewer, I’m watching someone else experiencing something rather than myself. Because I haven’t experienced anything before I’m naturally jealous of people who have.

At the same time, it’s hard to believe that Zak and the team are so frequently affected. I feel as thou they could research a brand new building erected yesterday and somehow be confronted with demons. It’s all a little hard to believe, it is reality TV after all.

Investigation

So in this new series, we have Serial Killer Spirits. Where the Ghost Adventures team go to famous serial killer locations to try and communicate with the dead. In future episodes, we will be confronted with John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy investigations.

In this show, we have one of H. H. Holmes murder houses where he dismembered a 9-year-old boy. The show starts like any other, with a serious tone with a foreboding nature and a little tease to keep us watching of things they discovered during their investigation. I’m hooked, I’m always sceptical but I’m hooked and that’s the point.

Well, I was hooked until 5 minutes into the show Zak is interviewing a woman who sleeps in a baby’s crib, dressed up as a baby holding a teddy bear. I started howling with laughter! Tears streaming from my face as a show about serial killers is interviewing a grown-up baby.

I’m pretty sure they’re fucking with us all by incorporating that but how on earth can I take the show seriously or anything she says seriously when she partakes in wearing nappies for a living.

Serial Killer Spirits Ep.1

I always enjoy the investigations that Zak and the team do but there are hardly ever any physical events. It’s all events that take place through audio devices, spirit boxes (also questionable) and an ITC puck response.

I must say the puck response segment is chilling but at the end of the day, it’s a piece of tech that can easily be manipulated with the know-how. My inner scepticism once again comes to the surface.

ITC Puck response

Such responses as “It’s getting super warm in here” come from the cameraman with a huge camera strapped to him with a battery that’s no doubt been running for ages hanging from him. Ok, buddy… you’re warm, I get it, doesn’t mean that you’re being dry-humped by a gang of demons now does it?

Serial Killer Spirits

If you believe, you believe if you don’t, you don’t. If you’re on the fence like me wanting to believe, it doesn’t matter. Serial Killer Spirits is another great show in the Zak Bagans roster. This man is a genius at what he does and his haunted museum is a testament to all things weird and wonderful.

But until I experience it for myself one day, the paranormal will always and forever will be, entertainment rather than reality to me. Zak if you ever read this, fly me out to Vegas, walk me down the corridors of your museum and help me believe brother!
