Sunday Lunch At Port Vale Football Club: A Fan Review

Sunday Lunch at Port Vale

A Sunday lunch like no other at Port Vale football club as friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food combine in this wonderfully affordable classy day out.

Port Vale Football Club Burslem

Port Vale have come on leaps and bounds under their new ownership with the club being revamped from top to toe. The future is looking bright for Vale fans on and off the field.

After covid put a stop to routine Sunday dinners at the ground last year our scheduled meal was moved forward to this year and we had the chance to head on down to Vale Park on a gloriously sunny day to see what the experience is like.

Glistening in the Stoke sunshine this wonderful stadium is ever so welcoming and upon a quick entry process (including a camera temperature scanner), we ascended the stairs into the Valiants Suite.

With spaced out tables and the League One play-offs final playing on the TV, it was such a warm and inviting place to enter.

It was my first time inside the Valiants Suite and it absolutely won’t be my last as bubbly staff members guided us to our table and took our drinks orders.

With 3-courses on offer (there is also a 2-course option), there is certainly a nice variety of food to choose from and each dish just sounded wonderful, I was spoiled for choice.

I eventually took the dive, placed my order and eagerly awaited the food to arrive after forfeiting my breakfast that very morning in anticipation.

Port Vale Sunday Lunch

Port Vale Sunday Lunch Review

Priced at £19.95 for 3 courses and £16.95 for 2 courses for adults, the pricing was very reasonable indeed.

I wasn’t expecting anything fancy for such a low price but when those dishes arrived, I was extremely surprised.

Heritage Tomato and Mozzarella Bruschetta With Fresh Pesto

Bruschetta Port Vale Football Club Dinner

Now I’m the furthest person away from being vegetarian as humanly possible but this particular dish leapt off the page.

Every time I visit an Italian restaurant I jump at the chance to have a nice bit of Bruschetta and it always hits home.

Beautifully presented with a nice balsamic vinegar there was a burst of fresh flavour with a nice crisp bite to the Bruschetta.

A solid starter and a very surprising display of the food as presentation is not something I was expecting at such an affordable price point.

21-Day Aged Topside of Beef

Topside Beef

With a solid variety of flavours on display the main meal certainly didn’t disappoint as even vegetables (yes, those things I actively avoid daily) were sublime.

I know when I’m having a good meal if I can get those vegetables down without a fuss.

Whilst the meals were being delivered the staff members were constantly checking on us to see if we wanted more drinks and one young girl in particular (sorry I didn’t catch your name) was constantly clearing our tables, always there when we needed her and had a big smile on her face from start to finish.

Either that or I’d have one too many drinks by then and I was imagining things.

We’ll never know.

Classic Sticky Toffee Pudding with Toffee Sauce and Ice Cream

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Well after undoing a button (or two) I was ready for dessert and I was genuinely once again spoiled for choice.

Every single dish on the menu looked great, sounded great and my personal choices had all been spot on so far.

With such a strong toffee flavour just bouncing off the fresh ice cream this sticky toffee pudding was the perfect end to a perfect meal.

Three courses for £20, all well-presented and all surrounded by the beautiful atmosphere within the Valiant Suite.

We had the wonderful owners come to sit down with us after our meal for a really long chat about the future of the club and it was all a bit surreal.

Such down to earth and loving people have absolutely transformed Port Vale football club.

The stadium looks incredible, the food was incredible, the improvements since the takeover have been night and day.

It’s a club I’m proud to support and I’d go back in a heartbeat for a nice bit of Sunday grub!
