Supermassive Games The Quarry Resurrects 80’s Horror

Supermassive Games and their incredible Dark Pictures Anthology series has been my entire 2022 so far, from Until Dawn all the way up to Man of Medan I’m loving every second.

Supermassive Games The Quarry

The idea of playing a movie where your decisions directly impact the fate of the characters involved is reminiscent of an old Goosebumps book I used to have.

During the book, you’d flick to one page for one decision and flick to another page for another decision.

With the advancement of technology, these photo-realistic characters (portrayed by real-life actors) allow the story to pop off the screen and with your choices directly impacting the storyline, it’s immersion like never before.

The Quarry Game

For a scary experience, I’ll always choose a Dark Pictures Anthology game over a horror movie any day.

Simply holding something as simple as a controller in your hand connects you to the game. Your button choices, your mental choices and more directly contribute to the story, you’re the director, but even more than that, you’re almost playing god.

Supermassive Games The Quarry is the latest title from the company as this is one Summer Camp type game which revives feelings of 80s nostalgic horror with some intense Friday the 13th vibes.

This new Teen-Horror Game from Supermassive Games and 2K is coming on June 10 and I absolutely cannot wait.

Quarry Game Cast

The Quarry features an iconic ensemble cast of Hollywood stars and celebrities, including David Arquette (“Scream” franchise), Ariel Winter (“Modern Family”), Justice Smith (“Jurassic World”), Brenda Song (“Dollface”), Lance Henriksen (“Aliens”), Lin Shaye (“A Nightmare on Elm Street”), and more.

The Quarry will be available on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam. Rated M for Mature by the ESRB, The Quarry is now available for pre-order.

The storyline for The Quarry is as follows:

As the sun sets on the last day of summer camp, the teenage counselors of Hackett’s Quarry throw a party to celebrate. No kids. No adults. No rules.

Things quickly take a turn for the worse.

Hunted by blood-drenched locals and something far more sinister, the teens’ party plans unravel into an unpredictable night of horror. Friendly banter and flirtations give way to life-or-death decisions, as relationships build or break under the strain of unimaginable choices.

Quarry Game David Arquette

You can play as each of the nine camp counsellors and 2K and Supermassive Games released the following statement along with the official trailer (see below) for the game.

Director Will Byles said:

I can’t wait to see the choices you make, who you’ll save, and who you’re willing to sacrifice!

2K president David Ismailer said:

We are partnering because Supermassive Games are simply the best at what they do, and we’re huge fans of the studio.

The chance to work with one of the great creative minds in our industry doesn’t come often, and we are excited to be on this journey together with The Quarry.

The stunning cinematic experience doesn’t stop at just gameplay. For the first time, you can activate movie mode which lets you enjoy The Quarry as a binge-worthy cinematic thriller.

Grab your popcorn and enjoy the ride!
